Sourdough fans have a new reason to make a Target run, and one of the new loaves sounds like it could put some serious zing into breakfast. Izzio Artisan Bakery is bringing two new sourdough breads to Target on November 1st.

Super Sour Sourdough Comes With A Serious Tang
Some sourdough breads have a gentle tang, while others make their tanginess known from the first bite. Izzio’s new Super Sour Sourdough is aiming to be the latter.
The bakery uses extra-long fermentation to give this loaf a deeper, tangier flavor. So, it’s for sourdough fans who want more of the taste that makes this bread so special.
I think this is the most exciting of the two new arrivals. A stronger sour flavor could make a simple piece of toast feel a little more interesting, especially when paired with something rich and creamy. You can toast a slice until golden, with a little butter melting into the middle. Or try it with cream cheese, smoked salmon, or a fried egg. The tangy bread could give those toppings a nice balance without needing much else.
Sliced French Sourdough Makes Sandwiches A Whole Lot Easier
Izzio’s Sliced French Sourdough combines the light texture and delicate flavor of French bread with something that can make a busy morning much easier: pre-sliced pieces.
I think this bread could be the more useful choice for everyday meals. Its delicate flavor should work with plenty of toppings, from ham and cheese to peanut butter and jam. And because it’s already sliced, there’s less work between opening the package and making lunch.
It’s also a nice change for people who enjoy French bread but don’t always want to deal with a whole baguette.
Just Three Main Ingredients
Izzio says both new breads are made in small batches and start with three simple ingredients: flour, water, and salt. The bakery uses natural sourdough fermentation, which gives the bread its flavor and helps set it apart from loaves that simply have a sour taste. The extra fermentation time is especially important for the Super Sour Sourdough, which is designed to deliver a stronger tang.
Izzio already makes several sourdough breads, including its classic San Francisco-style loaf and French baguette. These new Target offerings add two more options for shoppers who want to try something different.
At $4.99 per loaf, these aren’t the cheapest breads on the grocery shelf. But for someone who enjoys artisan sourdough, the cost could make sense if the flavor and texture deliver.
Both loaves are scheduled to arrive at 1,000 Target stores starting November 1st, and they’ll be exclusive to Target through December.
