Goodles Is Adding A Whole New Pasta Shape To Their Lineup (Plus Three New Flavors)

Of the cozy, rainy night meals, there is something about the endless allure of mac & cheese that keeps me coming back time and time again. Although perfect in pretty much any circumstance, macaroni and cheese is even better on days when you need a little bit of home-cooked comfort.

But sometimes we don’t really have the time, energy, or resources to make a luscious batch of mac & cheese ourselves. Of course, when that is the case, it’s a natural resort turn towards the convenient blocks of comfort. And there’s plenty of nostalgic and delicious options to choose from in these moments. My personal favorite is Goodles and it’s no secret that we’re big fans here at Sporked―they won our Best of the Best category for vegan mac. 

At first, they brought me in with its cute packaging and promise of a more well-rounded nutrient breakdown. But after three years of constantly having a box of Goodles stashed away for lazy nights, I’d say that it’s become a bit of a ride-or-die. Beyond its guarantee of protein and fiber, the flavors are delicious and genuinely innovative for the boxed mac & cheese landscape. So, when we heard that Goodles is coming out with an all new lineup of mac, we were overflowed with giddy, taste-testing glee.

Here’s What’s New

The new line of Goodles is called Twirly Mac and each box is comprised of long curly noodles, as opposed to their typical smaller bite noodle shapes. Of course, they’re still made gluten-free and rich with protein, but the noodles really depart from a typical macaroni shape―more of a curly ramen noodle territory that they are saying is twirlable, as per the name.

The new flavors being launched with this collection are also a departure from the typical Goodles portfolio. They are more innovative and seemed distinctly adult as opposed to the originals. The first flavor in the Twirly Mac lineup is, of course, a pretty standard cheddar mac flavor called Cheddar Weather, just with some extra savory kick. But its different shape makes it nice and slurpable. The more unique flavors include Alfredo Heights, a creamy white miso alfredo noodle, and Hot Shot Jackpot, a chili garlic cheddar mac & cheese. 

Of the new flavors in the lineup, I’ll be curious to see if the umami miso flavor really comes through for the Alfredo Heights. And the advertisement of the Hot Shot Jackpot being associated with a chili crunch type flavor is intriguing for sure. I mean, it’s my tried-and-true method for eating Goodles in the first place―one part Goodles, one part chili crunch in every bite.

Why We’re Excited

What I really appreciate about this new collection is that it acknowledges that these convenience foods are just as known, beloved, and enjoyed by a more mature audience than just kids. After all, everyone needs something that they can rely on when dinner is simply too daunting. And the best part about Goodles really is the fact that it is a more satisfying and satiating dinner than Kraft or Annie’s due to its high fiber and protein content. To say we are excited about these new flavors and noodle shape is an understatement. And, when we’ve tried them out for ourselves, you’ll be the first to know what our official opinions are.
