I would love to be a fly on the wall at HARIBO headquarters.

Not for the business meetings or the financial discussions. I want to be there when someone walks into a room full of adults and announces that they’ve come up with a new candy called a Pear-akeet. And everyone nods. Someone writes it down. Maybe there’s even a PowerPoint presentation with a little green bird on it. A man in a suit asks whether they’ve considered the implications for the wider gummy market.
I think I’d last about five minutes before being escorted out for laughing.
But Pear-akeets are real, and they’re one of five new single-flavor gummies HARIBO is launching at Dollar Tree. The others are equally wild, and I mean that as the highest compliment.
Meet HARIBO’s Five New Gummy Creatures
HARIBO has decided that regular fruit-shaped candy needs an upgrade. It’s combined five fruits with five creatures, resulting in a cast of characters that sounds like something from one of my fever dreams.
Here’s who’s starring:
- Straw-Fairies: Strawberry-flavored fairies.
- Blue Raspberr-Bees: Blue raspberry-flavored bees.
- Dragon’s-Fruit: Dragon fruit-flavored dragons.
- Fla-Mangos: Mango-flavored flamingos.
- Pear-akeets: Pear-flavored birds.
I have to give them credit for Dragon’s-Fruit. That’s the sort of pun that’s been sitting in front of humanity for years, waiting for someone to put it into a bag.
But Fla-Mangos might be my favorite. I can imagine a flamingo standing on one leg, minding its own business, completely unaware that somewhere in America, its likeness is being used to sell mango-flavored candy.
What a strange world we live in.
You Can Finally Buy Just Your Favorite Flavor
Unlike HARIBO’s usual assorted gummy bags, each of these new varieties comes in its own single-flavor bag.
I think this is a brilliant idea, particularly for people who feel very strongly about which candy flavors deserve to exist. We’ve all met someone who eats their favorite colors first and leaves the rest sitting sadly at the bottom of the bag. Or someone who insists that every flavor tastes the same, which is a concerning thing to say.
Now you can simply buy a bag of whichever flavor you prefer and avoid the entire argument.
When Are the New HARIBO Gummies Coming to Dollar Tree?
The five new varieties are launching first at Dollar Tree, although HARIBO hasn’t announced an exact arrival date. The company also hasn’t confirmed whether they’ll eventually appear at other retailers. So if you’re interested in adopting a small collection of edible birds, bees, fairies, and dragons, Dollar Tree is the place to start looking.
And if HARIBO ever decides to expand the collection, I’d like to submit a suggestion. Banana-condas. You’re welcome, HARIBO.
