Big Candy is finally giving us what we asked for: K-pop flavored gummies. Yes, Haribo is launching the Ruby Hearts gummies revealed by Jennie herself back in April. Inspired by Jennie’s solo album “Ruby,” these gummies are hitting shelves now. The social media reaction to these gummies was off the charts, so they’ll be flying off the shelves. Let’s get into this viral candy development.

Sorry…what do you mean K-pop gummies?

For the uninitiated, Jennie is a member of BLACKPINK—basically the biggest girl group on the planet. And her social media following is massive—she’s currently the most followed Korean person on Instagram. BLACKPINK commands a global legion of superfans (known as BLINKs) who go crazy for their group releases and solo projects. In the food space, BLACKPINK has already collaborated abroad with Starbucks, Oreo, and Kit Kat—major names in our world.

Per a conversation I had with Haribo representatives last month, this collaboration began when Jennie reached out to Haribo about producing a special run of gummy candies to send to friends and family celebrating the launch of her solo album. They obliged with a healthy “if fan demand is high enough, we should think about selling these” caveat, and here we are.

What are the actual gummies like?

Per the brand, these are sweet-and-sour strawberry gummies—heart-shaped, of course. Haribo is big on sour right now; the other new innovation from the brand is their Sour Sodas pack (which our own Gwynedd Stuart gave a full 10 out of 10). Haribo was nice enough to send over an early bag of Ruby Hearts—let me know in the comments if you want to see a review right here on Sporked.

Where can I get Haribo Ruby Hearts for myself?

These gummies are exclusive to Target and, per the brand, only in limited supply. I’ve already seen these stocked on an endcap in the candy aisle. If you want to try Ruby Hearts for yourself, head to Target ASAP.
