When it comes to chocolate bars, Hershey’s has tried a lot of different things. They have played it safe with dark chocolate and almonds, and they have done more out-there creations like last years’ ice cream shoppe bars. But it has been a minute since Hershey’s gave us a run-of-the-mill new chocolate flavor and now we are getting one that, arguably, should have existed already.
That’s right, Hershey’s is releasing a caramel-filled milk chocolate bar—and that’s not all. It was developed by the good scientists over at Hershey’s to fit perfectly in a s’more. (I assume they brought in a s’mores physicist for this. It may not be rocket science but it’s just as high-stakes.)
So where and when can we get these new caramel Hershey’s bars? Do they fit in s’mores like normal Hershey’s? Will they come in fun size too (though arguably all sizes of chocolate are fun)?
All we have seen online so far are six-packs of what appear to be full-size candy bars (one shopper spotted them at Hy-Vee). As for what “full-size” means in this case, it is hard to tell from the packaging. However, me being a junior detective and all, don’t worry, I got you. We know a full-size Caramel Hershey’s bar is 39g according to the packaging, and a normal full-size chocolate-all-the-way-through Hershey’s Bar is 43g. Assuming the caramel one is slightly less dense (due to being hollow in the middle to make room for caramel), it is likely a similar length and width to the regular unleaded Hershey’s bar, which would put it at 5.43 inches long and 2.19 inches wide.
Now, I know what you are thinking: “Jessica, it’s not that deep.” Well actually, from the packaging, these look to be ever so slightly deeper (thicker?) than the regular Hershey’s Bars (likely in order to accommodate the caramel) so yeah, it is that deep. And not gonna lie, these seem like they would be absolutely bonkers in a s’more. I haven’t seen a fun size packaging picture bopping around the internet yet, but if I know anything about candy companies (and I do know a little), it’s that if these bad boys take off we are likely going to get some form of mini version of it by Halloween, and I, for one, am so ready.
But first, I will be s’morifying these (and potentially throwing some flakey salt on there?!?), so stay tuned—although I don’t see how that could possibly be bad.
