When they said drones would be delivering groceries in as little as an hour, I could barely believe it. But ice cream? Delivered by air in under three minutes? I can’t even wrap my mind around it. But I’m going to try. Because Unilever, a huge company that makes everything from shampoo to mayonnaise to a range of popular ice cream products (including Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers, Magnum, Klondike, Fudgesicles, and more) has partnered with the drone company Flytrex to launch a high-speed ice cream delivery program in four U.S. cities.
People living in Holly Springs, Fayetteville, or Raeford, North Carolina, or in Granbury, Texas will be able to order Unilever-brand ice cream using the Flytrex app, and it will be at their house in “under three minutes.” That’s less time than it just took me to check the mail to see if I got any fun packages even though I didn’t order anything. That’s so fast it’s borderline creepy.
Customers will be able to choose from six exclusive “bundles” of ice cream, including the “Chocolate Lover’s Bundle,” which contains a mix of chocolaty flavors from different Unilever brands, and the “Berry Fruity Bundle,” which includes Breyers Strawberry, Ben & Jerry’s Strawberry Cheesecake, Talenti Roman Raspberry, Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Bars, and Popsicle Grape, Cherry, and Orange Pops. There’s also a bundle that is only Ben & Jerry’s (my favorite frozen confectionery duo), and includes Half Baked, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Cherry Garcia, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (aka the classics).
This service is available to over 10,000 households in the aforementioned cities and is well underway, having already completed “thousands” of drone deliveries. If any of y’all live in one of those areas and try this out, please comment below and let me know how it goes! I need proof that this remarkable feat of engineering is as fast as it claims, because I still can barely believe it.
This is my first time doing this
