Vegetarians, Rejoice! You Can Now Buy Plant-Based Impossible Frozen Meals

They did it, y’all. Impossible Foods has done the impossible: They’ve moved into the frozen prepared foods market. Fans of plant-based Impossible meat (which includes pork, chicken, and beef substitutes) will be able to choose from eight premade Impossible frozen meal options, called Impossible Bowls (“Impossibowl” must have been taken already, otherwise I have no idea how they missed that!) and available in the freezer aisle at Walmart.

So what will these eight Impossible frozen meals consist of?

Well, let me tell you: The first four impossible frozen meals, which were released this week and inspired by Asian and American-style cuisine, include: Sweet and Sour Impossible Pork, Teriyaki Impossible Chicken, Chili Mac with Impossible Pork, and Barbecue Impossible Pork. Then in October, Impossible will launch its collection of four Italian and Latin American-inspired meals: Spaghetti and Impossible Meatballs, Pasta Bolognese with Impossible Beef & Pork, Burrito Bowl with Impossible Beef, and Spicy Enchilada Bowl with Impossible Chicken. Why do all eight of these sound, dare I say, impossibly fantastic?!

These frozen meals apparently take about five minutes to heat up, and I am so excited to try them! I’m also super curious to see what Impossible pork and Impossible chicken taste like. My only experience with Impossible meat is the time I used Impossible beef to make a giant plant-based meatloaf shaped like a turkey leg. No, I will not elaborate at this time, but let me just say it was a unique experience that I highly recommend.

The bottom line? If you are a vegetarian, a vegan, or just a hungry human wandering through a Walmart, these Impossible frozen meals sound like they could be a great new addition to the “I’m too tired to cook” section of your freezer (we all have one).
