It’s Official: Pepsi Strawberry Shortcake Is Coming In 2027

Pepsi has a lot in store for fans in 2027, and one of the most exciting items coming is the Pepsi Strawberry Shortcake. And for anyone who likes their soda with a little extra sweetness, this one sounds worth watching.

The reported lineup includes regular Pepsi Strawberry Shortcake and a Zero Sugar version. Both are expected to arrive in February 2027.

Pepsi Is Bringing Dessert To The Soda Aisle

Sweet strawberries, soft cake, and whipped cream make for a dessert that’s fruity, creamy, and sweet without relying too much on chocolate. 

Turning those flavors into soda is a different challenge. Pepsi Strawberry Shortcake is expected to pair the brand’s familiar cola flavor with natural and artificial strawberry shortcake flavors. It’s too early to say whether Pepsi has managed to capture the flavor of an actual slice of strawberry shortcake. But the idea is enough to get us excited.

Pepsi Has Tried Strawberry Flavors Before

Strawberry might sound like unfamiliar territory for Pepsi fans, but the brand has experimented with the fruit before. It introduced Strawberry Burst in the United States in 1991. Pepsi Strawberry also appeared in the United Kingdom and France in 1994. Later, Diet Pepsi Jazz Strawberries and Cream arrived in the United States in 2006 and remained available until 2009.

More recently, Pepsi has played around with strawberry and cream in international markets. Its UK Zero Sugar Strawberries & Cream flavor has strawberry and vanilla notes with the familiar taste of cola.

The difference between the Strawberry & Cream Pepsi and the new Strawberry Shortcake is that the latter is inspired by a complete dessert rather than strawberries alone. If Pepsi gets the balance right, the drink could offer fruity sweetness alongside creamy and cake-like notes, making it one of the most delicious drinks on Pepsi’s lineup. 

Regular Pepsi And Zero Sugar Are Both On The Menu

The reported February 2027 launch includes both regular Pepsi Strawberry Shortcake and Pepsi Strawberry Shortcake Zero Sugar.

The packaging plans also give soda fans a choice between grabbing an individual bottle and stocking the fridge with cans. Both versions are expected to come in 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans sold in 12-packs.

The regular version is expected to become a permanent addition, while the Zero Sugar version’s 20-ounce bottles are reportedly scheduled to disappear around mid-May 2027. The Zero Sugar 12-packs are expected to remain available permanently.

Hit Or Miss?

A dessert-flavored cola has plenty of potential, but the name alone won’t guarantee a winner.

I think the biggest challenge will be getting the strawberry flavor right without overwhelming the cola. Too much artificial-tasting fruit sweetness could make the drink feel more like a strawberry candy than strawberry shortcake. A convincing creamy finish and a little cake-like sweetness could help it stand apart from other fruity colas.
