If you love fruity soda, you probably love Jarritos. The Mexican soda brand sweetens its bevs with real sugar (which soda people love) and has a lot of flavors in its lineup, from grapefruit to guava and even a Mexican cola some say rivals Mexican Coke (we’re into it). I can say from experience that nothing goes with a plate of al pastor tacos quite like a bottle of lime Jarritos, although I wouldn’t turn up my nose at mandarin or tamarind, either.
Given that the brand specializes in candy-sweet sodas, their expansion into the candy realm doesn’t seem like much of a stretch, so we were pret-ty excited to try new Jarritos Gummies. Do they live up to their carbonated liquid counterparts? We grabbed a bag to find out.
Pros: First of all, Jarritos Gummies are adorable. They look like little glass bottles filled with colorful liquid. If you love the whimsy of Haribo Happy Cola but you want more variety, you’re going to be super into these. They come in six flavors: lime, pineapple, mango, mandarin orange, fruit punch, and tamarind. The lime is especially tangy and delicious, and the mango is really fresh and fruity-tasting, too. Tamarind is a wild card, but it works. Mush like Haribo, Jarritos Gummies have a very firm chew—they aren’t for the weak of tooth or spirit. And they’re made by Canel’s, which is another Mexican brand (you’d probably recognize their Chiclet-like gum) and we think that’s nice.
Cons: I know I already praised the stacked assortment of flavors in a bag of Jarritos Gummies, but I am an ugly American and I always want more, more, more. How about grapefruit? Or guava? Or c’mon—Mexican cola gummies?? People would lose their minds for those. If they decided to expand, we’d be stoked.
