Customers Weigh In On Their Favorite Jeni’s Flavors

It’s in everyone’s interests to know which ice cream is worth their time. Hey, money’s tight! Ice cream is plentiful! Options are everywhere! If you’re not careful and have a wandering eye in the frozen aisle, drawn to whatever new tub you may find, you can end up investing heavily in your ice cream inventory and not getting the best of the best. That’s particularly easily done with Jeni’s, which has dozens of flavors to choose from – but not all of them might be 10/10 in your eyes.

They weren’t in our eyes, at least. Last year, we ranked the whole Jeni’s range, and weighed in on which we’d buy again – and which weren’t worth the punt. And we thought we should see how that ranking stacks up to what customers think. Let’s look at which Jeni’s flavors its fanbase are drawn to, time and time again. 

And The Winners Are…

A couple of months ago, a thread popped up on Reddit discussing and ranking Jeni’s ice cream flavors, with the original poster putting Savannah Buttermint at the top of their pack (which incidentally, placed 14th on our own list), and asking everyone else which flavors were their favorites. The comments revealed a few recurring options that clearly sit in customers’ affections. Boozy Eggnog, which was ranked 29th in the Reddit list and didn’t appear at all in ours (it is seasonal, after all), was named in that thread and other ones as a winner. Jeni’s Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flakes (2nd in the Reddit list, 13th in ours) was also a recurring name, while Wildberry Lavender (9th in ours) made a strong showing. 

Powdered Jelly Donut and Gooey Butter Cake were also two flavors that showed up again and again, with the raspberry jelly in the former named as a real standout. Fans of the brand’s Blackout Chocolate Cake, which we put at number 20, made their voices known, too – and over in other corners of Reddit, people have waxed lyrical about this one. 

And The Losers?

There were a couple of glaring omissions from the original Reddit thread, which had 160 comments at the time of writing this article, which showed us that not all tastebuds are created equal. We put Jeni’s OPAQUE at the top of our list, and when Griffin Parker reviewed it, he named it as potentially the best ice cream he’s ever had. Redditors, though, weren’t as enamored – although as a limited-edition flavor, it’s a fair assumption that a lot of them weren’t as well-acquainted with it as others in the Jeni’s line. Others, like the Frosé Sorbet, also didn’t make the cut.
