The official start of summer might still be two weeks away, but summer flavors are already here… and we’re loving it. The tastes of summer―fresh, nostalgic, and vibrant―have already taken over our feeds as our favorite brands release their new summer menus.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams’ summer flavors hit the mark with their recent launch. The three new flavors were a taste of summer while being true to the brand’s innovation and high-quality finish. The flavors―Confetti Brownie Batter, Matchapolitan, and Summer Berries & Passion Fruit―are seasonal flavors you’re not going to want to miss.
Confetti Brownie Batter
A pop-culture classic, Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies, inspired this new flavor on the Jeni’s menu. While the childhood treats fall flat, the ice cream has reached new heights. The base is sweet, rich, and salty (but not too salty), which is exactly how your dream brownie is balanced. With the gluten-free brownie pieces mixed into the chocolatey custard, the texture mirrors those sneaky spoonfuls of batter you’d snag from the mixing bowl as a kid. The sprinkles, thrown in for nostalgia and color, offer a nice texture, too.
If you’re a dark chocolate fan like I am, and you never shy away from something sweet, the Confetti Brownie Batter ice cream is worth picking up next time you’re at the grocery store. And if you’re lucky enough to live near a Jeni’s Scoop Shop, I highly suggest getting a scoop for your next summer sweet treat.
Matchapolitan
Matcha tends to be a hit-or-miss for me and it’s often a pretty controversial flavor. But if the only thing preventing you from trying this flavor is the fear it won’t taste like high-quality matcha, order away! The first thing you taste in this scoop is the creamy vanilla bean ice cream. Then you get a delightful matcha flavor―nutty and not at all bitter or muddy―that feels like a sip from your favorite café, rippled with bright strawberry jam to balance it all out. If you’re a fan of a matcha latte or, even better, a strawberry matcha latte, then this is the scoop for you.
Summer Berries & Passion Fruit
What do the farmer’s market and a tropical vacation have in common? This ice cream. The fresh summer berries that go into the luscious ice cream base make this the perfect summer treat on its own. But the unexpected addition of passion fruit curd rippled throughout is the perfect complement to the fresh flavors.
This flavor is exceptionally bright, not overly sweet, and an exemplary summer ice cream that proves there is still room to play with classic flavors. On their own, the flavors are not particularly innovative. Together, it feels criminal that Jeni’s waited until now to release this flavor.
Honorable Mention
The Burnt Orange Dreamsicle is a seasonal menu item worth writing home about. Not new to this launch, but a limited-edition flavor nonetheless, this ice cream gives the classic orange creamsicle the balance it always needed. The burnt orange caramel provides an incredible depth that sings on your palate in a low hum long after the bright citrus has faded. For as long as it is still in stores, I’ll keep coming back for this one.
