I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The food world is a wild, wonderful, sometimes stressful place. The former and latter usually come to pass when a food company like Kraft decides to release a new product or flavor that we very much didn’t see coming – because (and whisper it with me here) we probably didn’t need it in the first place. So it is with Kraft’s new Cinnamon Roll Mac & Cheese. Did anyone predict this? No. Did anyone ask for it? Probably not. Do we have it anyway? Yes, we do.

It’s probably no surprise that people have a lot of opinions about this one. And we do too. Let’s discuss.

Kraft Cinnamon Roll Mac & Cheese

It’s recently come to light that Kraft is releasing two new limited-edition flavors: A Chili Crisp Mac & Cheese (which makes perfect sense to me, and which I’m sure will be pretty good) and a Cinnamon Roll Mac & Cheese (which makes…less sense to me). According to a press release seen by People, Kraft is promising that this new flavor will have a “creamy, slightly tangy bite,” and it seems to be a savory-sweet-spicy affair, with the sauce dusted with cinnamon flecks.

Kraft Cinnamon Roll Mac & Cheese will be a Walmart exclusive, and it’s heading to stores now for the holidays. Kraft watchers, of which there must be a couple of you, might remember that the mac & cheese brand has experimented with sweet flavors before. Back in late 2025, it dropped its Apple Pie Mac & Cheese, and teamed up with – who else? – American Pie’s Jason Biggs to promote it. So it’s got previous form here.

A Buzz? You Bet There’s A Buzz

Kraft releasing its Cinnamon Roll Mac & Cheese is a typically eye-catching move from the brand – and it’s worked. Posts on platforms like Reddit and Instagram have exploded into conversation about this new flavor and its potential benefits (of which few have been mentioned) and drawbacks (of which many have been mentioned). The main feeling around it is a sense of bafflement about why it exists, and there’s a fair bit of talk about it signifying the end of days. Not to be dramatic and all, but for some people, it really is that deep.

But let’s talk about how this flavor could work. It’s clear what Kraft is going for here, in trying to capture the creamy, cheesy notes of a cinnamon roll’s icing and the spice of the roll itself. Kraft’s also spent some time this year working on combinations of baked goods and mac and cheese already with its Mac & Cheesecake, so there’s a world in which it’s stumbled upon some new hybrid delight we didn’t know we needed. I’m going to hazard a guess and say that we don’t need it, though. But hey, if you want to try it, go forth.
