We’ve all seen the rise of protein rich snacks. Nearly everything has a new protein bonus version these days. Gone are the days of protein shakes and protein bars. Not if you want some extra protein in your day, you can get protein coffee, soda, chips or even ice cream. Well Laird has a new line, likely inspired by certain menu items from a popular coffee shop: protein matcha!

Matcha Protein Powder
That’s right, for those that aren’t big coffee drinkers but want the same extra protein, Laird is offering up matcha. Matcha is already known for its great health benefits like antioxidants, so why not add a little protein to the mix too? That’s certainly what Laird was thinking when they came up with this line of matcha protein powder.
Their new matcha line comes with three varieties: original, strawberry, and lavender. One glass of their matcha latte mix contains 10g of protein and 70-90mg of caffeine. Keep in mind that matcha is still tea and it does contain caffeine. So if you’re watching caffeine intake, this may not be a good choice. But if a little caffeine won’t hurt, these drinks sound surprisingly tasty.
The Protein Trend Is Here To Stay
Laird is already well known for their superfoods, specialty creamers, and protein coffee line. So this move to matcha isn’t that strange. We think it’s a good move. Not everyone loves the taste of coffee. (Though not everyone loves the taste of matcha either. I see you grass haters―I can acknowledge that matcha is a very polarizing taste.) But the branch out means that they are well on the way to making other powder drinks for consumers. I think a good chocolate milk mix could be tasty. (Laird or Nesquik, I’ve got ideas, hit me up!)
Laird knows what they’re doing with this new mix. Everyone is talking about protein these days, so it’s a safe trend to jump on. Why swing by for an overpriced (and not as good) matcha latte from your local green branded coffee shop when you can make a delicious one right at home? We’re excited to try these and see what else Laird comes out with. If we’re gonna have to see protein drinks, they might as well be interesting and good.
