Folks, I can’t tell you how perfect today’s review is for me. With very few exceptions, I don’t like popcorn, I’m super tired of mango, and I have no spice tolerance. Naturally, this makes me a perfect fit to review mango habanero kettle corn. Luckily for the nice people at Angie’s BOOM CHICKA POP (who sent me over a pound of this popcorn to review), I had a few adventurous test subjects help out on this one. I’ve collated the results, so let’s find out whether swicy popcorn has a place on this planet.
- Angie’s Boom Chicka Pop Mango Habanero Popcorn Review
-
Pros: The mango and habanero are super well-balanced. The mango flavor is strong, so if that’s something you’re looking for, this is definitely going to pass muster in your books. Unlike some other kettle corns, this isn’t unanimously sweet or too salty.
Cons: Do you know what you get with a really well-balanced mango habanero kettle corn? A kettle corn that isn’t really spicy at all. You’d have to go through a solid chunk of the bag before the heat built up enough to truly feel it. That’s not my biggest problem with this popcorn, though. I don’t think popcorn should be fruity. I know I’m already biased with my strong anti-mango and anti-popcorn sentiments, but pretty much everyone who tried this agreed: There’s something strange about a fruity popcorn. More salt would have helped cut that sweetness down to size; the habanero heat takes too long to build up to put up any fight against the mango menace.

Where can I get this new Boom Chicka Pop flavor for myself?
This new flavor of Boom Chicka Pop is currently only available at Sam’s Club (which explains the giant bag) and Walmart. That said, I imagine if sales go well, we’ll see this hit normal grocery stores in normal sized bags. In the meantime, you’ll be buying this anomaly of a popcorn flavor in bulk if you want to try it for yourself.
