It’s been a tough couple of years for Drake. Ever since Kendrick dropped “Not Like Us” and proceeded to take over the world with the diss track, Drake’s kept a pretty low profile in the music biz (sure, he released some songs with PARTYNEXTDOOR, but did any of them have the world-shaking impact that Kendrick’s did?). In true mogul style, though, he’s not exactly been sitting back and doing nothing. The Canadian rapper’s been busy elsewhere, scoring various brand deals, expanding his investments, and working with artists through his label, OVO Sound.

Now, it seems like he’s bringing his wares back to his home country, in a collab between his label and McDonald’s Canada. The restaurant has just released a limited-time menu with Drake, which is available now. Here’s the lowdown.

Rap Beef? More Like McDonald’s Beef

The Drake x McDonald’s “After Meals” combo was first announced a few days ago on Instagram, and while that post has since disappeared, the rapper’s new menu item has still started appearing in McDonald’s Canada locations. This meal combines a portion of poutine, a menu-exclusive in Canada that we desperately wish it did elsewhere (cheese curds and gravy? Count us in), with either a Junior Chicken or McDouble Sandwich.

So far, so ordinary – but where it really shines is with the “Nite Sprite” that comes with it. This limited-edition blue raspberry beverage comes in a black OVO cup, complete with the label’s owl logo emblazoned on it. It’s probably the coolest way to enjoy a drink from McDonald’s at present, so if you care about that kinda thing, then keep up appearances with this Sprite flavor (unless you’ve sided with Kendrick, obviously).

This Meal’s Won’t Be Around for Long, So Get Yours Now

Drake’s McDonald’s Canada collaboration doesn’t have a set end date yet, but its limited-time nature is very clear. When you throw in the slightly elusive, low-key way that the collab was rolled out, we wouldn’t be surprised if this meal-drink combo is a flash in the pan thing – so if you’re interested in trying it out, we’d recommend getting down to McDonald’s pretty quickly.

Speaking of the rollout, it’s something that’s caused a bit of confusion to Drake fans, who have questioned why it’s been so quiet. “Basically no promo whatsoever, nothing on the McDonald’s app (I live in Canada), no news, the reel that was posted on McDonald’s Canada’s Instagram has been deleted. This collab has been really weird,” said a post on Reddit. Another comment described the collaboration as “underwhelming,” which won’t exactly do much to bolster Drake’s reputation (and let’s be honest, he sorta needs it right now). Maybe this is all part of some wider strategy. Who can say?
