Sound the new chip klaxon, ‘cos we’ve got a live one! We’re always covering the best new chip flavors here at Sporked – in the last week, we’ve tried a new Doritos flavor and the new Brazilian-Style Garlic Sauce chips from Lay’s – but it’s always a special day when we get to bring you news of a brand new product. And that’s what we’re gonna do today, because Barcel USA, the company that makes Takis, has launched an entirely new chip for all of us to enjoy.

And they’ve (officially) come just in time for the cosy afterglow of Cinco de Mayo (because let’s be honest, we’re going to be in the festive spirit for the rest of the week). Introducing Mi Tierra.
What Are Mi Tierra Tortilla Strips?
Barcel’s new chips, Mi Tierra Tortilla Strips, are a snack that’s angled at a market looking for a more authentic, straightforward experience. “Mi Tierra was created with care: care for tradition, care for quality, and care for the moments we share with the people we love,” said Barcel USA’s marketing director, Sandra Kirkpatrick, in the company’s press release. “As families look for snacks that feel familiar, versatile, and made with intention, Mi Tierra delivers an authentic experience that fits naturally into everyday life. We look forward to everyone discovering the flavors and finding their favorite way to enjoy the snack.”
As for those flavors, there are three of them: Sea Salt, Hint of Lime, and Pico de Gallo. All three come in shareable, 9.9 oz bags, and all of them are made in Mexico with no artificial flavors or colors and a simple ingredients list.
Where Can I Find These New Chips?
At Walmart, guys, at Walmart. Mi Tierra Tortilla Strips are available now at its stores across the country.
Are They Any Good?
Well, luckily, we have some early responses to that question. Although Mi Tierra Tortilla Strips are getting a wider push in the wake of Cinco de Mayo, they’ve actually been showing up in stores for a minute – and as a result, some people have managed to get their hands on them, including prolific snack reviewer Tami Dunn over on YouTube. The reviewers found that while the Sea Salt flavor was pretty decent, the Pico de Gallo felt slightly unbalanced and lime-forward. The Hint of Lime, meanwhile, was less of a “hint” and more of a “hits you over the head with full-on lime flavor.”
That’s actually not a bad thing in my eyes, if I’m being honest, and the reviewers also agreed. Grab these for your next potluck (or use them for nachos), and check them out for yourself.
