Devoted Jones Soda fanatics might recognize these latest drinks from the craft soda giant. See, the video game-inspired action movie Mortal Kombat II was originally set to be released in October 2025. Because of that, Jones Soda already had a full rollout of its Mortal Kombat-branded sodas to celebrate the long-awaited sequel to Mortal Kombat (which came out in…checks notes…1995??). That original soda drop included the film’s original release date on the labels and everything—talk about a collector’s item. Now it seems the film is actually being released on May 8, and Jones is back for round two with a new batch of Mortal Kombat II sodas.
What flavors are we talking about? Are they the same as the original Mortal Kombat II Jones sodas?
The original line of Mortal Kombat II sodas released last year came in four flavors: Kitana Berry Lemonade, Shad Kahn Orange & Cream, Raiden Cream Soda, and Johnny Cage Green Apple soda.
This time around there are only three sodas being released. The Shad Kahn Orange & Cream and Johnny Cage Green Apple sodas returned. Inexplicably though, Jones swapped out Kitana Berry Lemonade for root beer. I guess they had a shortage of lemonade or maybe they just wanted to use the re-release to push more root beer! Jones is selling the lineup in a 12-bottle variety pack that includes four bottles of each flavor.
When and where will the Mortal Kombat II x Jones Sodas be available?
Actually, you can buy the collab on the Jones website right now! It’ll also be rolling out to “select retailers.” I scoured the internet to find what retailers that are carrying these, but I couldn’t find any as yet.
When the sodas were first released last year, some shoppers were able to find them at Kroger and Target. Perhaps they’ll get them this time around as well. Like I said, Mortal Kombat II comes out on May 8, so if you order your sodas now you should get them in time to sneak into the theatre. Just don’t tell AMC I told you to do that.
