Mountain Dew Code Red has had its fair share of new versions over the years. There’s been zero-sugar Code Red (albeit in fairly limited quantities and distribution, much to the annoyance of fans); there’s been an energy drink twist; there’s been Hard Code Red; in short, there’s been something for everyone. Well, kinda. Everyone who likes Code Red and wants zero-sugar, energized, or alcoholic versions.

But I digress! This is all just preamble to introduce the fact that Mountain Dew has another new version of Code Red on its way – and this one picks up on both recent moves that the drink brand has been making and a trend we’ve been seeing everywhere throughout 2026.

Mountain Dew Dirty Code Red

That’s right: Dirty Code Red is on its way. As reported by @teamsupernovafb, this new flavor follows hot-ish on the heels of Dirty Mountain Dew, which we tried at the end of 2025 and which launched in April of this year. Dirty Code Red looks to be rocking a cherry cream soda flavor – and, and, it’ll have a zero-sugar version, which will reportedly be available nationwide.

Mountain Dew Dirty Code Red is said to be dropping in May 2027 in both bottles and cans, but word is that it’ll only be a limited-time affair. Dirty Mountain Dew, meanwhile, remains a permanent part of the brand’s product line.

In The Words Of Christina Aguilera…

Getting dirty is something that pretty much every fast food chain and plenty of soda brands have been doing throughout 2026. Dirty soda may have been around for ages now, but this year we saw a clear boom in its popularity, with the likes of McDonald’s, Crumbl, and Burger King getting in on the action. The desire to make sodas creamier and richer clearly knows no bounds, and Mountain Dew’s betting that people won’t be tired of it come Spring next year.

Given the flavor profile of Code Red, though, it does feel like a natural fit for dirty-fying – so I’d wager this one will do well. And who knows what Mountain Dew has next in its scope for dirtification? Dirty Baja Blast – a citrusy, limey, creamy concoction? Dirty Voltage – cream, raspberry, citrus, and just a suggestion of ginseng? (I actually feel like that one would be really good). Will Maui Burst, in all of its pineapple glory, be revived and turned dirty? Piña colada vibes on that one! We’ll have to wait and see. More as it comes.
