Mountain Dew Is Making 2-Liters Of This Fan-Favorite Flavor For The First Time

Mountain Dew fans have already had plenty of reasons to keep an eye on Baja Cabo Citrus. The tropical citrus flavor started as a limited-time release, returned with a new formula, and eventually earned a much longer stay on store shelves.

Now, it looks like Mountain Dew is giving fans another reason to get excited. Baja Cabo Citrus is expected to arrive in 2-liter bottles beginning in January 2027. This would mark the first time this flavor has been sold in a 2-liter bottle. 

Started As A Limited-Time Flavor

Cabo Citrus first showed up in the U.S. in April 2025 as part of Mountain Dew’s Baja lineup. The flavor was described as a tropical citrus punch with mandarin and lime flavors. The original release was meant to be temporary. Fans could find it in 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans, with a Zero Sugar version available too.

That could have been the end of the story. Mountain Dew has released plenty of limited-time flavors that disappear after a few months.

Cabo Citrus, however, got another shot. The flavor returned in January 2026 with a new recipe. The new version had a stronger lime taste than the original and also dropped artificial dyes from the formula. That gave Cabo Citrus a lot more time to stick around and win over fans.

Now Cabo Citrus Is Getting A Much Bigger Bottle

Cabo Citrus has been available in 20-ounce bottles and cans, but 2-liter bottles have not been part of the lineup so far. That is expected to change in January 2027.

Team Supernova reports that Mountain Dew will begin selling Cabo Citrus in 2-liter bottles at that time. The reported launch would give fans a new way to buy the flavor, especially for those who would rather grab one big bottle than several smaller ones.

Mountain Dew already sells several of its other flavors in 2-liter bottles. PepsiCo’s distributor listings include 2-liter versions of various Mountain Dew products, including Baja Blast. So Cabo Citrus joining the 2-liter club would make sense.

No Official Word Out Yet

Mountain Dew hasn’t made any official announcement about the new 2-liter bottles yet, but if the reported January 2027 launch happens as expected, fans will finally be able to grab Baja Cabo Citrus in a 2-liter bottle for the first time.

And if the comments on Team Supernova’s Facebook post are anything to go by, fans are pretty excited about the possibility of having a bigger bottle of their favorite Mountain Dew drink.
