It’s summertime, and that means new Mountain Dew flavors, including the return of fan favorite Mountain Dew Summer Freeze! While Sporked’s Gwynedd Stuart reviewed the full sugar Mountain Dew Summer Freeze back when it was originally released in 2023, Summer Freeze Zero Sugar managed to slip under the radar!

We don’t want to leave our zero sugar readers in the dark, and my friends at Mountain Dew have very kindly tossed me a few bottles of Summer Freeze Zero Sugar for the occasion. So, let’s pop one open and see how it stacks up to the full sugar.

New Zero Sugar Mtn Dew!

Mountain Dew Summer Freeze Zero Sugar Review

Pros: I think Mountain Dew Summer Freeze Zero Sugar rights one of the biggest wrongs that Gwynedd pointed out with the full sugar: It dials down the sweetness, which allows the rocket-pop-esque flavor to stand out much more. The full sugar tastes heavily of too sweet raspberry flavor. But in the zero sugar version, I get notes of the cherry, lemon, and raspberry individually. It’s not often I say this, but I think Mountain Dew Summer Freeze Zero Sugar is better than the full sugar version. I’d even go as far to say it’s one of the best zero sugar flavors I’ve ever had.

Cons: It’s still a zero sugar flavor. As much as I hate to use this as a con, the artificial sweetener aftertaste is strong. If you’re not a zero sugar drinker, you definitely taste the sucralose.

Consensus: This is a SOLID flavor of zero sugar Mountain Dew. Even if you aren’t a zero sugar drinker, this is worth checking out as the bomb pop flavor is more accurate than it is in the full sugar.
