In every decades-old fast food chain, there are a bunch of adult executives stroking their chins and trying to figure out how to make their legacy brands appealing to Gen Z customers. Apparently, that’s with soda. Several fast food chains have turned to interesting soda options in their spin-off concepts as a way to attract a younger audience, with the likes of CosMc’s and KFC Saucy putting their unusual drinks front and center of their offering. For CosMc’s (an offshoot of McDonald’s), this didn’t quite work – it closed, and its drinks were absorbed into the McDonald’s menu – but for Saucy, it seems to be going well.

So well that the chain has just announced that it’s collaborating with Pepsi on four exclusive sodas, which push the envelope on what a fast food drink can taste like. Well, there are actually five new sodas. Here’s the lowdown.

KFC Saucy x Pepsi New Sodas

KFC Saucy is joining forces with Drips by Pepsi, Pepsi’s forward-thinking beverage vehicle, to debut four new sodas across all of its 10 locations. They are:

Pepsi Salted Caramel Fizz

Starting with either a regular Pepsi or a Pepsi Zero Sugar, this drink is infused with salted caramel and chocolate notes, and finished off with caramel cold foam. The foam gives it a dirty soda vibe, which is very in keeping with the trend that’s sweeping the nation, and being taken up by everyone from Crumbl to Mike’s Hard Lemonade

Tropicana Rainbow Splash Lemonade

This very colorful drink begins with a combination of Tropicana and Starry, to which passion fruit and pineapple flavors are added. Oh, and it’s then all poured over blue raspberry popping boba. We expect this one to be wildly sweet, but weirdly moreish during summer.

Mountain Dew Chili Chill

Okay, let’s gooooo! This new Mountain Dew option combines the soda with Tropicana Lemonade and then mixes in pineapple, mint, and jalapeño. Then, a dash of Tajín adds the final touch. Essentially, this is gonna be like a soda version of a margarita, and we are so here for it.

PynkRaze Pop

The final widely available soda is a combo of Tropicana Lemonade and Starry, with passion fruit and pineapple flavors, with everything poured over dragon fruit popping boba. So, basically, exactly the same as the Rainbow Splash, but with dragon fruit instead of raspberry. That’s not a bad thing. Just different.

And One More for the Road!

In addition to these four main flavors, there’s also a final drink – Tropical Energy Escape – which will be exclusively available at Saucy’s Carrollwood location. This one has a real dirty soda vibe, too, with an orange-pineapple energy blend that has passion fruit and blackberry mixed in, finished with a double-punch of coconut water and coconut cream. Very refreshing, very creamy, very energizing indeed.

These drinks are available now at Saucy locations in 16-ounce servings. Plus, they’ll be on the menus of the five new stores KFC is opening this year. Does this mean that they might get a wider rollout to its main business one day? We’ll have to wait and see.
