There I was, just scrolling through the myriad grocery-focused food accounts I follow on Instagram, like you do, when I came upon a post that caught my eye: an image of a supposedly new ice cream labeled Hershey’s Ice Cream Peanut Butter Cookies & Cream. Oh wow, I thought to myself, that sounds delicious. And I’ve certainly never heard of it before, let’s do some research.

That’s when I hit a bit of a snag.

You see, the only other mention of this ice cream is a product page for it on Pine Ridge Grocery’s website. If it weren’t for that, I’d think I was dealing with AI tomfoolery. But as it stands, I think it’s real.

Then I did a little more digging and figured out that Hershey’s Ice Cream has nothing to do with Hershey’s chocolate. It’s a totally separate company—though it, like Hershey’s Chocolate, is also based out of Pennsylvania.

Mystery solved. And while it might not be as exciting as that other Hershey’s releasing a new ice cream, it still sounds damn good. Let’s get into it.

What is Hershey’s Ice Cream Peanut Butter Cookies & Cream?

We don’t have much to go on, just an Instagram post from @foodiewiththebeasts showing the top lid of the 1.5qts tub of ice cream and a caption saying that they found it at “the Amish Market.”

From the picture on the lid, though, we can gather a few things. First, we know it’s a limited edition flavor. Second, we know it appears to be a classic cookies and cream ice cream with Oreo-inspired flavor profile. Third, the peanut butter seems to be incorporated into the mix in ribbons (which, by the by, is my favorite way to incorporate peanut butter into ice cream).

When will it be available?

If you live near one of the two Pine Ridge Market locations in New York or can track down the “Amish Market,” then you can probably get it right now. Lucky you.

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
