Fans of fruit-flavored candy and portmanteaus have something to be stoked about this summer. Last week, Hi-Chew dropped its new Infrusions Orchard Mix. What is an “infrusion,” you ask? Luckily, it doesn’t involve needles or hospitals. Instead, according to a press release, it’s “a new premium delicious experience infused with pockets of flavor.” Basically, these are meant to be an “elevated” version of Hi-Chew’s original chewlets (never knew they were called that, ya learn new things every day), and are Hi-Chew’s answer to the summer-fruit-flavor craze.
I don’t know about you, but as interested as I was to find out what the flavors would be in this new Hi-Chew pack, I was doubly interested in these so-called “pockets of flavor.” Turns out the pockets in question allege to add “more juiciness with infused concentrated apple puree and pieces of pectin jelly to mimic adored, true-to-life, fruity flavors.” Now I have to know what it feels like to eat one. Darn it, Hi-Chew, you’ve piqued my curiosity once again.
If that wasn’t enough of a sell, the flavors sound super McFrickin refreshing. This pack comes with: Juicy Peach, Juicy Strawberry, and Juicy Blood Orange. That’s a lot of “juicy,” conjuring images of velvety tracksuits and songs by Lizzo (ooh, baby!). I can’t say for sure yet, but in my heart I believe that eating one of each of these flavors at once would almost certainly taste how walking into a Jamba Juice smells. I’m here for it! That is, hands down, one of the best smells in the world.
Also, and I don’t think this is a controversial opinion, Hi-Chew consistently has some of the most accurate fruit flavors in the candy aisle, and their chewy texture is as-of-yet unparalleled by their confectionery competitors. You really can’t beat ‘em. In conclusion, I am making a resolution this week to ensure the inclusion of these fruity infrusions on my grocery list or my name’s not Jessicusion (okay, technically it’s not, but nothing rhymes with Jessica so please let me have this one).
