6 New Fall Foods Heading to Kroger We Can’t Wait to Try

If there’s one thing I know as a citizen of these here United States of America, it is that fall starts whenever you want it to. Yeah, the autumnal equinox might be in September—blah blah blah—but true fall? True fall is when you decide to wear long pants in August even though it’s still 113 degrees out (thanks, California). True fall is whenever you choose to start rewatching Gilmore Girls for the 26th time. True fall is the friends we made along the way.

By “friends,” I’m of course referring to cookies and cakes and coffees brimming with that delicious, controversial, and, dare I say it, magical blend of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg that is anything but “basic.” The arrival of various pumpkin spice groceries is the new harbinger of fall, and that means fall is here, at least according to Kroger. But if pumpkin spice isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Kroger’s fall lineup isn’t all pumpkin spice all the time—other fall flavor profiles are getting some love, too. Here are six new Kroger items coming to stores this fall that we can’t wait to try.

Private Selection Caramel Apple Cheesecake Sandwich Cookies

This is America. And when a caramel apple meets an apple pie meets a cheesecake meets an Oreo and then comes to Kroger, you don’t say, “No, I couldn’t possibly, that’s too much.” You say, “BRING IT ON.” These new sandwich cookies from Kroger consist of “apple-flavored cookies with sweet cheesecake-flavored filling and a creamy caramel center,” and we are dying to see how all those flavors balance out. Will this cookie taste like the spirit of autumnal glory? Stay tuned.

Private Selection Pumpkin Spice Croissant

These croissants are both a fall food and a bakery section item, so I’m expecting comforting, warm, spiced, buttery, flaky goodness. According to Kroger, these will be “freshly baked in store” and will contain “a pumpkin spice explosion of flavor sure to please your taste buds.” I don’t know about you, but hooo boy, are my taste buds ready—bring on the buttery, flaky ‘splosion, Kroger, we can take it!

Private Selection Pumpkin Spice Crumb Cake

If I could legally marry a crumb cake, I would

…strongly consider it. This crumb cake supposedly comes with both a “ripple” and a topping of pumpkin spice streusel, and the cake itself has both spices and actual pumpkin flavor. The chef (aka Kroger) recommends we try it warm “for an extra touch of comfort,” and in 2024, year of Brat but also modesty, demureness, and classiness (thanks, internet), we could all use that little bit of extra comfort.

Private Selection New York Style Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream

You’ve had cheesecake ice cream. Maybe you’ve even had pumpkin ice cream. But have you had pumpkin cheesecake ice cream?! I suppose it’s possible, but you have definitively never had Kroger’s take on this delectable frozen confection and neither have we. And as a veritable connoisseur of pumpkin cheesecake ice creams (I love the li’l crust bits and the tang), I am very stoked that this will be available in Kroger stores nationwide.

Private Selection Spiced Apple Cashews

Are you tired of nuts being a salty snack? Do you wish nuts tasted more like fruit? Are you answering these questions out loud or did you assume they were rhetorical since I am just an article on a website? Either way, yes, Kroger is releasing Spiced Apple Cashews and, yes, you will cash me trying these out because I am intrigued, my friends. Kroger says these will be salty and sweet, and will have “cinnamon sugar notes that are balanced with a hint of apple.” Is a mere hint enough to make these a hit? We’ll find out soon enough.

Kroger Candy Franken Ropes

Somebody call Safiya Nygaard because it’s a Franken-thing! Based on the fact that Kroger already has a SweeTarts Rope Dupe called “Ropes,” my guess is that these will be a distinctly Halloween-y take on those selfsame tart, sweet, candy-filled tubes of other candy. These will be around for a limited time only, and I will definitely be picking some up. With the name alone, they have roped me in!
