A Sneak Peek at the New (and Returning!) Oreos That Are Coming Soon

Oreo is back at it AGAIN, my guys. They looked at their wide array of flavors, the snack aisle as blue as that one toy aisle is pink (you know the one), and they thought, “No. It tisn’t enough. For all must be Oreo. Everything the light touches, Simba.” Or whatever, I’m not in their board meetings. The point is, whether we like it or not, there are two new Oreos coming out to celebrate Oreo’s birthday, and honestly….we do like it. Or at least we think we will, seeing as the new items in question are Double Chocolate Cakesters and a Limited Edition Golden Birthday Cake Oreo.

Wait, so the cookie-shaped cake is chocolate but the cake-flavored chocolate cookie isn’t? Is this some sort of riddle?

Yes, the new Oreo Cakesters will be chocolate-on-chocolate, while the Birthday Cake Oreo cookies will be not-on-not. But never fear, the descriptions of both sound pretty bomb. The Cakesters (Oreo’s take on shelf-stable whoopie pies) will have “decadent chocolate flavored creme filling sandwiched between two soft chocolate snack cakes,” and the limited edition Golden Birthday cake Oreos, which are actually a returning fan-fave flavor, will have “birthday cake-flavored creme with rainbow sprinkles sandwiched between Oreo Golden cookies.” Not gonna lie, both of those sound pretty darn good to me. Chocolatey, fluffy, cakey domes with chocolate creme in the middle? No complaints here. The sweet n’ saltiness of a Golden Oreo with the sweet, vanilla-y punch of the Oreo birthday cake creme? Sign me up.

Okay, now that I’m signed up, let’s talk about where and when we can get these. The Double Chocolate Cakesters start hitting shelves on February 24 and will remain in perpetuity (or as long as we keep buying them, I suppose), while the Golden Birthday Cake Oreos will be around starting on March 3 and will be available for a limited time only, just while supplies last. Does that mean March 3 is Oreo’s birthday? How much you wanna bet they release a Triple Stuf Birthday Cake Oreo of some kind in 2033 on 3/3/33? Callin’ it now—I’m good for like $3, an Oreo, and an “I told you so.”
