Like most ice cream brands, Van Leeuwen is opening its bleary eyes, stretching after the long winter just passed, and getting ready for a summer of churning (get it?) out products. The last minute has been busy for the NYC-born company: In March alone, we’ve brought you news of its new ice cream bonbons, the return of its rare Mango Sticky Rice flavor (which has only been spotted at Whole Foods), and the somewhat mixed reaction to its Dubai Style ice cream. Now, it’s time to talk about its new frozen yogurt, which is debuting today – yep, today – in NoHo, New York City.

And here’s the kicker: To celebrate the release of its new froyo, you can get a cup of your very own for $1. Here’s what you need to know.
Froyo for $1? Really?
Yes, really. Van Leeuwen announced it on its Instagram, so it must be true. If you head down to its scoop shop at 640 Broadway, you can grab a cup of frozen yogurt for a single buck, which will be being poured out by none other than brand co-founders Ben Van Leeuwen and Laura O’Neill. It’s not the warmest day for it, but we’ll never say no to cut-price frozen goodness. You’ll have to move quickly, though. In addition to this deal only being available today, March 27, you’ll need to get down there between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to avail of your $1 froyo. Otherwise, it’ll be full-price, baby.
If you do manage to make it down in time, then you can grab one of four new flavors: Tart (which we guess is a citrusy affair), Matcha, Chocolate, and Strawberry. Get them on their own or in a swirl, and adorn them with a wide selection of toppings, including pistachio katafi, mochi, chocolate curls, and fresh strawberries. We don’t know whether those toppings will be included in the $1 price of the froyo, though. At the moment, there’s no dairy-free option for Van Leeuwen’s new frozen yogurt, but founder Ben Van Leeuwen confirmed in a response to a comment on Instagram that there’s one in the works – so hold your nerve, people!
It’s Froyo Season
Van Leeuwen’s new frozen yogurt coincides with Big Froyo at large rearing its head for another year of brisk business. Just a couple of weeks back, we found out that there’s a new HI-CHEW frozen yogurt at Menchie’s, which sadly may only be around until the end of March. If you missed it, though, there are plenty of good grocery store frozen yogurts you can get your fill of until other companies like Van Leeuwen announce their new flavors – and we don’t doubt that there will be more to come. Summer’s just around the corner, and the people are going to need to keep cool with some spoonable creamy goodness.
