There are so many food arguments worth having: Does pineapple belong on pizza (yes), is a hot dog a sandwich (yes), and is deep dish pizza actual pizza (it’s not). And here’s a new one: Which Chips Ahoy texture is better? I prefer Chewy (the red packs), but I’m sure the original blue packs have some fans out there somewhere. In the meantime, I have two new Chips Ahoy Chewy variants to review because Nabisco doesn’t know how to stop. Let’s find out whether these two dessert-flavored cookies are worth the mental strain.
New Chips Ahoy!
Chips Ahoy Chewy Ice Cream Sandwich Inspired Cookies
Pros: This is a chewy chocolate chip cookie filled with icing. It’s good, y’all. The amount of icing is perfectly proportioned to the cookie, which was my initial concern when I first covered these. And trust the packaging when you see “Chill for a Treat!” These definitely sold the ice cream sandwich concept much better after an hour in the freezer.
Cons: Eagle-eyed cookie fans may be confused by this release, since it looks very similar to another Chips Ahoy Chewy variant we saw back in 2014. Back in the day, we had Chips Ahoy Chewy OREO Creme Filled cookies. Nabisco, let’s get that back on shelves ASAP for comparison.

New Chips Ahoy Cookies!
Chips Ahoy Chewy Cinnamon Bun Cookies
Pros: These new Chips Ahoy cookies are definitely more interesting than the others! I love cinnamon buns, so they didn’t have to do a ton of work to get me on board—but they did that work regardless. The cinnamon bun-flavored white creme chip in a cookie does double duty delivering the flavor of cinnamon bun and the texture of icing.
Cons: I wish they’d done some sort of baked-in swirl to further the cinnamon bun idea. I’m not used to anything cinnamon bun-esque having such a uniform color.

Where can I get these new Chips Ahoy cookies for myself?
Chips Ahoy Chewy Ice Cream Sandwich Inspired cookies are available wherever fine Chips Ahoys are sold. I’ve seen them at Walmart, Kroger, Meijer, and more; these are truly everywhere right now. Meanwhile, Chips Ahoy Chewy Cinnamon Bun cookies are the total opposite; you can only get them in one store: Dollar General.
