Last year, Nothing Bundt Cakes released a Biscoff cake positively packed with cookie butter flavor that went what I’d call treat-viral. I tried to review it here on Sporked, but I couldn’t… because it was too damn popular! This limited-edition cake sold out at hundreds of bakeries in record time.

Well, Nothing Bundt Cakes got all our letters begging for the return of this sold-out delicacy, and they decided to take pity on us. Nothing Bundt Cakes’ Biscoff Cookie Butter Cake has returned to bakeries nationwide now through February 15th, and they were kind enough to give me an early taste so I could share my thoughts with the ravenous Sporked audience. Let’s crack open the clamshell and see how this Bundtlet compares to the hype.

New Nothing Bundt Cake!

Nothing Bundt Cakes’ Biscoff Cookie Butter Cake

Pros: This cake is great! It’s a Biscoff crumble-packed spice cake topped with Nothing Bundt Cakes’ classic cream cheese frosting, a drizzle of Biscoff cookie butter, and a Biscoff cookie garnish. Of course, it’s great. While some Nothing Bundt Cakes’ flavors lean too sweet (usually due to the Mount Olympus-sized pile of frosting), the comparatively muted spice cake flavor brings the entire cake down to a subtler level… which means it’s all the easier to inhale the Bundtlet in one sitting. Is that a good thing? You decide.

Cons: This is a fantastic cake, but I can think of two better cakes that factored into the final spork-score seen below. First off, Nothing Bundt Cakes absolutely perfected the formula last year with their Triple Treat masterpiece—an amazing cookies-and-creme cake packed with authentic Reese’s and OREO flavor. It will be very tough, in my eyes, for the bundt-focused brand to top that experience with any flavor.

Additionally, I had the privilege of sampling a few different treats from Paris Baguette last year, including a divine Biscoff Cookie Butter Layer Cake that I would pick over this in a head-to-head battle. Since N.B.C. Bundtlets and Paris Baguette cake slices are roughly the same size and price, they get measured against the same goalpost. What a blessed timeline we’re in, with so many good Biscoff cakes to choose from.
