Joy to the world, seasonal flavors from Nothing Bundt Cakes are here! NBC (the bakery, not the news organization) sent over two new and returning holiday flavors so we could give you the lowdown. Let’s crack open these buttercream-slathered clamshells of seasonal sugar.
Pros: Have y’all heard about the “Tom Cruise Cake?” Featured in Tom Hanks’ Last Meals episode, Ethan Hunt himself sends a beloved white chocolate coconut bundt cake to celebrities, studio offices, and agencies during the holiday season. (I’m currently pulling strings to try and get one of those cakes through Goldbelly to review this year—cross your fingers for me, folks.)
I bring all that up to say this cake might rival it;. This is divine. The supersoft cake is balanced by the snowflake sprinkles on top, and the shredded coconut furthers the unique textural experience in this perfect little cake. Oh, and the flavor is fantastic if that wasn’t obvious. I’m a huge coconut fan, so I think the shredded coconut, paired with the excellent buttercream, makes for a perfect wintery treat. (The only reason this cake isn’t getting a 10/10 is because the Reese’s/Oreo collaboration earlier this year was somehow even better. Props to NBC.)
Cons: Obviously, not everyone is a shredded coconut fan. There’s no getting past that in this cake; it’s for coconut fans only.
Pros: This cake fills the room with the Christmas spirit (aka the aroma of peppermint and chocolate) the second you open the container. This chocolate cake is packed with chocolate chips and some sort of soft peppermint candy pieces. While I’m not the biggest peppermint fan, this peppermint is absolutely drowned in chocolate, which is the best way to handle it, in my opinion.
Cons: Nothing Bundt Cakes released a very similar-looking Andes Peppermint Chocolate Chip bundt cake a few years ago. While I can’t confirm how exactly this recipe differs, I am such a big fan of Andes that I have to assume it’d be an improvement on this unbranded version. Andes are just so good.
