This year, P.F. Chang’s has been all about journeys – and specifically, journeys to Japan. A few months ago, the chain restaurant announced its Summer In Tokyo dining experience, which promised to capture the capital of Japan’s dining scene and food (and it roped in a few “Below Deck” stars to promote it, which felt slightly less Tokyo-focused, but we digress). Now, P.F. Chang’s is doing the same thing for fall, and we’re going to the same country once again.

This time, though, it’s transporting its customers to Kyoto, Japan’s former capital. How many more cities is it going to work its way through, we wonder? We’ll think about that while we discuss these new menu items.
Autumn In Kyoto
P.F. Chang’s Autumn In Kyoto menu launched yesterday, and it features a few new things to try, as well as a returning favorite from the summer. Arguably the centerpiece of this new offering is its two new duck dishes, created, we presume, in honor of Kyoto’s longstanding use of duck in its culinary mélange. Its Duck Wings come tossed in teriyaki sauce and topped with toasted sesame seeds, Fresno peppers, and scallions, while its Duck Fried Rice combines shredded duck with julienned vegetables, edamame, fried shallots, kimchi, chili jam, chili-spiced butter, and a fried egg. Duck fans will be very happy with that one, I think.
Also coming to its Autumn In Kyoto menu are its new Wagyu Egg Rolls, which are stuffed with Wagyu beef, black pepper, garlic, ginger, and julienned vegetables, and served with a black garlic aioli. And if you liked its Sushi Boat when it sailed in during that Tokyo-themed summer, or you just didn’t have a chance to try it, it’s back! As a reminder, that one’s a sharing plate with edamame, one California Roll, one Shrimp Tempura Roll, and two of either Spicy Tuna, Kung Pao, or Dynamite Shrimp rolls. Grab it with your partner and plan your next holiday.
And To Drink?
To usher in fall, P.F. Chang’s has embarked on a partnership with YOSHI Matcha Liqueur (which was the first matcha liqueur to market, incidentally), and is mixing up Matcha Martinis base with RumChata, YOSHI, cream of coconut and a twist of cinnamon to finish things off. If you prefer a more woodsy vibe, order its Kyoto Cabin, a mixture of Woodford Reserve Bourbon, black tea, maple, lemon, and a suggestion of nutmeg.
There’s a lot going on here, and it all feels suitably cozy. The Autumn in Kyoto menu is available September 16 through November 3, so get it now.
