Hostess Brings Back Pumpkin Spice Twinkies Along with More Fall Treats

Are you looking for a way to spice up your store-bought treats game this fall? Perhaps even pumpkin spice it up? Well, Hostess has got you covered because they are bringing back three fantastic fall-themed treats: Pumpkin Spice Twinkies, Iced Pumpkin Flavored Cupcakes, and Caramel Crunch Donettes. This collection is like if cake and the spirit of autumn had triplets and I am here for it.

Wait, there are Pumpkin Spice Twinkies? Since when?!?!

If you’re anything like me, you’re probably wondering where these beautiful spice-infused cake logs have been your whole life. In 2015, Pumpkin Spice Twinkies were born (before that, they were but a twinkie in Hostess’ eye). These Twinkies were a hit and have been back every year since, becoming an iconic autumnal staple. As for the Donettes, it seems they first appeared on shelves in late summer 2016, and the Iced Pumpkin Cupcakes arrived a few years later in 2019. Apparently, some version of Hostess pumpkin cupcakes existed prior to 2019, but they weren’t iced—apparently an important distinction. I would be curious to try both versions and see just how different they actually are, but I’m not sure tasting a discontinued product that hasn’t been around since 2019 is something I want to experience (I’ll leave that to Rhett & Link).

And if you’re too cool for pumpkin spice, which some people are for inexplicable reasons, never fear! Or maybe, fear a little bit? Because this year Hostess is also releasing Creepy Caramel Ding Dongs, which are limited-edition fudge-covered snack cakes with caramel cream filling. This is the newest product in their Halloween lineup, which also includes Spooky Twinkies and ScaryCakes. These spooky snacks will all debut in October, while the pumpkin-themed treats are set to hit shelves in September—which starts this week! The bottom line is that Hostess really is doing the mostess this season by providing a range of snack cake and donut options that everyone can fall for.
