I love overnight oats. I had some this morning, in fact! And there are a lot of good versions out there (although I personally just make mine myself, but hey, if your time is pressed the evening before, reaching for a prebought pot is always an option). But maybe you’re sitting here thinking, “hey, I love oats too – but all that chewing, man. It’s too much first thing in the morning!” And if you are, well…that’s how you feel, I guess. But chances are, you’ll also love this new product from Quaker.

But what is it? The suspense ends now!
Quaker Oat Shake & Go
Quaker has just announced its new Oat Shake & Go drinks, which take the hassle out of making or eating overnight oats – although you’ll still have to do a bit of prep. According to Quaker Foods, it’s a rethinking of how we eat oats in the first place. “For nearly 150 years, Quaker has been a trusted authority on oats and a beloved household brand known for quality and nutritional expertise,” said Quaker Foods’ chief marketing officer, James Wade, in a press statement. “The introduction of Quaker Oat Shake & Go helps reimagine the way our nutritious oats show up – bringing the power of protein, fiber and 100% whole grain oats into a delicious, drinkable format.”
Essentially, Quaker Oat Shake & Go is an oat-infused protein shake you prepare by pouring milk, a milk alternative, or water over the oat-y powder at the bottom of each bottle. Shake well, drink, and enjoy. Each bottle provides 23 grams of protein, 16 grams of whole grains, and three grams of fiber when prepared with eight ounces of milk. They come in Strawberry & Banana and Cinnamon Vanilla flavors.
Shake It Up
This new product from Quaker is, as its press release acknowledges, in part a response to people’s increasing inclination towards convenient, functional nutrition – and it also marks a step for the brand into the breakfast protein shake market, which has had a busy year. Just a few months ago, we were trying Premier Protein’s new caffeinated protein shakes, which do away with the need for a morning coffee alongside your morning meal. You just roll it all into one, baby.
Quaker Oats Shake & Go doesn’t go quite so far as to be infused with caffeine, but hey. Who knows what’s around the corner? For now, though, these new drinks are available now (if not very soon) in stores nationwide.
