Raisins Just Got A Pokémon Collab Just In Time For School

It’s been a moderately big year for Pokémon food collabs. That makes sense, given that 2026 marked the 30th anniversary of the mega-franchise (I personally celebrated this fact by downloading and playing Leaf Green when it came to the Switch, and having the absolute time of my life). We had Pokémon Pop-Tarts back in May, which weren’t half-bad, if you get past the fact that they were just Confetti Cupcake Pop-Tarts with Pikachu branding. We have Pokémon donuts at Krispy Kreme, which launch today. And in Japan, we saw new McDonald’s Pokémon sandwiches, which had us slightly envious.

Now, we’re getting yet another collab – but with a raisin brand. Huh. Here’s what you should know.

Pokémon x Sun-Maid

Yesterday, Sun-Maid Growers of California announced that it would be teaming up with The Pokémon Company International to release Pokémon-licensed raisin six-packs for the impending new school year. It’s actually teaming up with the franchise again; it previously did the same thing earlier this year. As before, each pack of raisins will feature Pikachu on the box (I mean, who else is it gonna be?), but mercifully, Sun-Maid isn’t trying to do anything weird to the raisins themselves. This is a packaging thing, not a “morph those little dried grapes into Blastoise shapes” thing.

According to Sun-Maid CEO Steve Loftus, this Pokémon collab is a way to, in a sense, keep its raisins cool and current. “Sun-Maid has been part of lunchboxes for generations and remains a snack parents can feel good about,” he said in a press statement. “This is a great example of how we keep that legacy relevant, combining the goodness people expect from Sun-Maid with an experience that brings extra excitement to everyday snack time.” 

A Canny Move

There’s not much to say about this one, other than to point out that this feels like a pretty clever move (and a bit of a coup) from Sun-Maid. Not to dunk on raisins, which I like as much as the next person – which is to say, a moderate amount – but they’re not exactly the kind of snack kids go wild over, and they have a healthy slant to them which most children don’t really appreciate that much. By putting Pikachu on the box, though, they suddenly seem…kinda cool? Maybe not cool enough to brag about, but definitely fun enough to have in your lunchbox without fear of a wedgie, or whatever those kids are doing to each other these days. Wow, I sound old, huh?

Anyway, I digress. These raisins are rolling out soon, and you can likely find them wherever you grab your regular, non-Pokéfied Sun-Maid products.
