Red Bull’s New Drink Will Keep You Sleeping for 12 Hours—at Least, That’s the Rumor

Red Bull can do a lot of things. Yes, it wakes you up, but beyond that, it has the power to make you A. anxious, B. jittery, and C. dwell on literally every mistake you’ve ever made. What a beverage! Don’t you love it? Oh, and it also bears the ability, as all energy drinks and other caffeinated beverages do, to completely and utterly mess with your sleep cycle.

So, given what we’re about to discuss in this article, we have to ask…has Red Bull finally decided that enough’s enough? Apparently, the brand is now developing a new Red Bull flavor with a new effect: a drink that will put you to sleep. For 12 hours. Yep. Here’s what we know – and if any of it should be believed.

Red Bull Gives You Rest

This odd little rumor concerning a Red Bull sleep drink has been doing the rounds online, and it’s safe to say that it’s been getting a lot of traction. Sadly, real details about whether it’s true or not, and where it comes from, are a little scant – but so far, word on the street is that it’ll be a drink that offers “12 hours of uninterrupted rest.” Whether it’s just a sleep aid or a drink that has the genuine ability to make you go to sleep (ie, a sleeping pill in drink form, which feels highly unlikely) remains to be seen – and whether we’ll actually see it at any point remains to be seen, too.

That said, the idea of a sleep-focused drink from one of the biggest producers of energy beverages in the world isn’t so far-fetched. A few years back, the ex-managing director for Red Bull, Hans Vriens, released a “sleep drink” called Snoooze, which came in two different strengths and which gained its rest-inducing powers from herbal extracts. Snoooze (yep, it has three o’s, much to the chagrin of spell-checking software worldwide) is now basically impossible to find, and we suspect it was quietly discontinued pretty quickly.

As Always, the Internet Finds This All Very Funny

If you thought the general response to the rumor that Red Bull is developing a sleep drink would be shy and retiring, well, you’d be wrong. “Being the hero & villain at the same time is wild business,” said one person on X in response to the idea of this drink. Others quickly turned to tagging Grok to check how true this all is (notably, Grok didn’t respond, which makes us think…what’s the point of it in the first place?).

This could be a way for the company to test the waters of this idea – and there’s no doubt that items like CBD drinks and sleepy teas have gotten way more popular lately, so it wouldn’t be the strangest move. For now, though, we’ll stick with our tart cherry juice, thanks.
