UPDATE: This round is closed; check back on Monday, March 31 to vote in the final four!
If you hail from the U.S., the region in which you grew up dictates a number of things about you: how you talk, the slang you use, the sports teams you root for, and which chips you will swear until the end of your days are the very best chips in the entire country (especially true if you’re from the Pennsylvania, for some reason).
While the rest of the country is squarely focused on college basketball, we’ve got chips on the brain. And we need our readers to help us answer an important question: Which region has the best chips? We put together “teams” of regional brands and randomly matched them in a single-elimination bracket challenge we’re calling the Regional ChampionCHIP (get it?). Here’s the lineup of iconic regional brands:
TEAM MID-ATLANTIC: Herr’s (Pennsylvania), Route 11 (Virginia), and Middleswarth (Pennsylvania)
TEAM WEST COAST: Alaska Chip Co., Good Crisp Co. (California), and Rusty’s Chips (California)
TEAM SOUTHEAST: Golden Flake (Alabama), Carolina Kettle (North Carolina), and Zapp’s (Louisiana)
TEAM NORTHWEST: Juantonio’s (formerly Juanita’s) (Oregon), Tim’s (Washington), and Teton Valley Idaho Potato Chips (Idaho)
TEAM NORTHEAST: Fox Family (Maine), Hal’s (New York), and Wachusett (Massachusetts)
TEAM SOUTHWEST & TEXAS: Julio’s (Texas), Siete (Texas), and New Mexico Quality Hot & Spicy Red Chile Chips
TEAM MIDWEST: Old Dutch (Minnesota), Old Vienna (Missouri), and Better Made (Michigan)
TEAM MOUNTAIN: Boulder Canyon (Colorado), Jackson Hole Chip Co. (Wyoming), Denver Chip Co. (Colorado)
Vote in Round 1 between now and Friday, March 28—and check back on Monday, March 31 for the Final Four! While you’re at it, subscribe to Sporked on YouTube so you don’t miss our full taste test of every single brand on Thursday, April 10.
