The Rockstar reviews keep rolling. I recently reviewed a new flavor of Rockstar Punched that is rolling out to stores nationwide in 2026, Blackberry Smash, and today I’m talking about a rare regional flavor of Rockstar that’s about to go nationwide: Rockstar Punched Lime Freeze. While Lime Freeze has only been available in pockets of the Midwest and West Coast, it appears that Celsius (new owners of Rockstar) plans to roll it out to the rest of the country in early 2026.
Should we be excited about this wide release? Or should Lime Freeze stay a regional treat? I was able to snag a few cans of Rockstar Punched Lime Freeze from the Celsius booth at NACS, so let’s find out.
Pros: I was prepared to give this flavor high marks for being made with real sugar—and then I discovered that every flavor in the Rockstar Punched line (including the new Blackberry Smash) uses real sugar. (It is worth noting that they also use sucralose.) But it still falls into the pro column. Lime Freeze almost tastes like a Frozen Key Lime Margarita. It’s very sweet and authentically limey and the “Freeze” portion of the energy drink definitely delivers. This is easily my favorite Rockstar Punched flavor.
Cons: This might be a bit of a nitpick, but this Rockstar flavor contains 0% real juice. I’d love to see some real lime juice make its way into the mix. I feel like that would elevate the drink into 10 spork territory.
