I have to admit that I probably don’t value the simple joy of a frozen seasoned fry enough. When they’re good, they’re really good: A combination of spice, salt, fat, potato, crunch…and (hopefully) none of the blandness that can afflict regular frozen French fries. Seasoned fries take the work out of the equation. No fry seasoning decisions to be made, no anguish about choosing the wrong thing. I’d know all this if I ever bought them!

Well, if I were in the US, I might be swayed by those on offer at Sam’s Club. The store has just restocked its seasoned fries, and I’m clearly missing out, judging by how much customers love these things.

Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Seasoned Fries

This week, Sam’s Club watcher/reviewer/general font of knowledge @samsclubfoodreview brought the news that its Member’s Mark Seasoned Fries are back. In each bag, which comes in at just under $6, you get four pounds of seasoning-battered, straight-cut French fries that cook up to a delightful crisp. Although Sam’s Club simply lists the spices in the recipe as “spices” (very elusive!), there’s definitely onion and garlic powder, and what looks like a pop of paprika for a reddish tint.

When I say that people love these fries, I’m really not kidding. Not only does @samsclubfoodreview dub them a 10/10, but they currently hold a 4.8 out of 5 rating on the Sam’s Club website, with 85% of the reviews giving them a full five stars (1% are 1-star, incidentally – and that’s a pretty impressive ratio as online food reviews go – and some of those negative reviews are due to Sam’s Club previously discontinuing them). In @samsclubfoodreview’s comment section, people are similarly overjoyed. “These fries are the Truth,” said a customer, followed by a fire emoji.

Don’t Delay

If news of Sam’s Club’s seasoned fries returning has caused your heart to sing, it might be worth bearing the temperamental nature of this product in mind. For whatever reason, these come and go without little warning: They seem to be seasonal, although by their release history, there’s no set season in which they arrive. They just…appear and disappear, like the wind, or a former fling you thought would finally leave you alone. As such, you might want to stock up on them before they go once more — although judging by how much people love them, they may end up being made permanent one day. Fingers crossed, huh?
