Sara Lee Just Made Six New Desserts For Us Singles

Sara Lee has decided that dessert no longer needs a birthday, a dinner party, or much of a reason. Just a spoon and a good (or bad) day.

The brand is expanding its Sweet Moments line with six new single-serve frozen desserts, including four-layered cheesecakes and individual cakes in flavors like Strawberry Shortcake, Lemon Blueberry, Gooey Butter Cake, and Chocolate Chip Brookie.

Because sometimes you just want a little something sweet, not a week-long relationship with a cheesecake.

Dessert For One

Sweet Moments isn’t new. Sara Lee launched the line last fall with three single-serve cobblers: Berry Bliss Crumble, Salted Caramel Peach, and Orchard Apple Cinnamon.

The company says those cobblers now make up more than a third of its fruit pie business and rank among its top sellers by dollar velocity in the frozen dessert aisle. They’re also stocked in more than 5,000 stores, including Walmart, Publix, and H-E-B.

So Sara Lee’s reasoning here is pretty simple: people liked having a dessert that didn’t require feeding a family, so it’s making more of them.

The company says it’s responding to smaller households and the growing demand for “little treat” moments, which feels like a fairly accurate description of eating a frozen cheesecake alone on a Tuesday.

Meet The Six

The new desserts come in two groups.

First, there are the Individual Four-Layered Cheesecakes: Strawberry Shortcake, Lemon Blueberry, and Fudgey Brownie. Each one layers creamy cheesecake with sauces, toppings, and a graham or shortcake-style crust, so you get a bit of contrast in every spoonful.

These are the easy ones. No oven, no microwave, no planning. Just take one out and eat it.

Then there are the Individual Cakes, which come in Gooey Butter Cake, Chocolate Chip Brookie, and Cinnamon Caramel Crunch. These are designed to be heated in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds, so you get something closer to a warm bakery dessert without actually having to bake anything.

The Brookie, for anyone who hasn’t encountered the word yet, is a brownie-cookie combination. Turning one into a single-serve frozen cake feels like a pretty natural progression.

Dessert Is Getting Smaller

Sara Lee is also pointing to a bigger shift in the way people are eating.

The company specifically mentions smaller households, “little treat” culture, and the growing use of GLP-1 medications as factors behind the move toward smaller portions. It’s not every day you see a frozen dessert company bring appetite-suppressing drugs into a product launch, but the logic is clear: if people want dessert but don’t want a whole cake sitting in the fridge, make a dessert that doesn’t come with six additional servings.

And really, that’s the appeal of the whole Sweet Moments concept. You don’t need to wait for a holiday or find three other people who want cheesecake at the same time. You can just have one.
