Sour Patch Kids have never exactly been on their best behavior. The whole sour-then-sweet thing is a pretty strong warning that these little guys can’t be trusted. And now, Halloween has given them an excuse to get even worse.

The candy brand has introduced three new Halloween treats: Tricksters, Glow Ups Ghosts, and Monster Parts. One tricks you into eating a flavor you weren’t expecting, another glows under blacklight, and the third lets you snack on monster body parts. You know, just normal candy things.
I’m most interested in the candy that’s actively trying to deceive me―which probably says something about my frontal cortex, but I’ll worry about that later.
Sour Patch Kids Tricksters Aren’t What They Seem
You know how you can usually tell what flavor a gummy is going to be by looking at its color? Well, Sour Patch Kids has decided that’s a little too convenient.
The new Sour Patch Kids Tricksters look like familiar flavors, but there’s a chance you’ll get something completely different when you bite into one. So that red gummy you’ve been saving for last? It might not taste anything like you expected.
I can already see these causing problems in a household where everyone has a favorite flavor. Imagine carefully picking out all the ones you like, only to discover you’ve been tricked by a bag of candy. Rude, but admittedly pretty funny―especially if there’s one flavor you absolutely can’t stand and it somehow keeps finding its way into your mouth.
And I feel like these are practically begging to be turned into a guessing game. Get a few friends together, pass the box around, and see who can figure out what they’re actually eating.
Glow Ups Ghosts And Monster Parts Are Joining The Party
Next up are Sour Patch Kids Glow Ups Ghosts, which come in Orange and Peach flavors and feature edible confetti that glows under blacklight, thanks to turmeric extract.
I have several questions, starting with who decided candy needed its own blacklight effects. But I’m not against it. If you’re throwing a Halloween party, these would be pretty fun to put out under a blacklight. Just make sure people know they’re edible before someone mistakes them for decorations and catches you snacking on them.
And then there’s Sour Patch Kids Monster Parts, which feature monster-inspired shapes in Black Raspberry, Orange, and Watermelon flavors.
These are a little more straightforward. No surprise flavors, no glowing confetti, just sour candy shaped like bits of monsters. Although that’s still not a sentence I ever expected to write about something you can buy at the grocery store.
Where Can You Find The New Sour Patch Kids Halloween Candy?
The new candies are part of Sour Patch Kids’ Halloween lineup, so keep an eye out for them in seasonal candy aisles.
Tricksters come in a 3.52-ounce theater box with a suggested retail price of $1.50. Glow Ups Ghosts are sold in an 8.37-ounce pack for $4.29, while Monster Parts come in an 8.88-ounce bag for the same suggested price. Actual prices and availability may vary by retailer.
If I had to pick one, I’d go with Tricksters. Although I wouldn’t say no to a bag of glowing ghosts. I’ve eaten plenty of questionable things in the dark before, but at least these come with their own special effects.
