An interesting thing happens when a soda innovation calendar leaks: We’ll have giant news like a new holiday Coca-Cola flavor or the return of Diet Coke Lime. And then, at the bottom of the hype chart, we’ll get today’s news: Last year’s cookie-flavored Sprite is returning to store shelves this winter. And the crowd goes…What?
Sorry, did you just say cookie-flavored Sprite?
Okay, that’s not the official flavor description, but I tried it. It’s cookie-flavored; there’s no better way to describe it. Sprite Vanilla Frost was first released in winter 2024 as a seasonal exclusive to the Kroger family of stores. I covered the initial leak just under a year ago; I suppose that means we’re right on time to hear about the return a year later.
And people liked cookie-flavored Sprite enough to bring it back?
No, they didn’t! The broad public opinion of this soda was not enormously positive; I was sent plenty of pictures of Kroger stores flush with stock of this limited-time-only soda well into the promotional period. It turns out no one was crying out for vanilla baked-good sweetness added to their Sprite. Sporked writer Tyler Bowsers liked it, but that guy also just gave a 14-year-old can of soda a 10/10 so…Take that how you will.
Is Sprite Vanilla Frost a permanent addition to the Sprite flavor line-up?
Thankfully, no. Much like Coca-Cola Holiday Vanilla Cream, this will be a limited-time-only release for the holiday season (and a little beyond, as I’ll cover next). This will not be replacing our beloved Sprite Chill Cherry Lime—there’d be riots in the streets if that happened.
When and where can I find Sprite Vanilla Frost?
If I haven’t scared you off of this Sprite flavor yet, you’ll be able to find it at the Kroger family of stores starting in November. The end date for this limited-time release is in March; maybe this time, they’re actually planning for this soda to sit untouched on shelves for a while.
