It’s a big week for Taco Bell fans: Birthday Cake Empanadas, Double Dipping Burritos, and now a new pair of super-value Chicken Crunchadillas. Taco Bell was nice enough to send over a gift card for your favorite Taco Bell reviewer to check out all these new items; let’s find out whether the “Crunchadilla” is an innovation worth keeping.

What’s the difference between this and a regular Taco Bell quesadilla?

Aside from the ingredients, the existing quesadilla and the new “Crunchadilla” formats differ in two major ways: size and texture. If you can believe it, the Crunchadilla is crunchier than the quesadilla. The Crunchadilla is also made on a standard-sized flour tortilla, not the larger one used in the standard quesadilla.

New Taco Bell Burritos!

Taco Bell’s new Crunchadillas are available with either Classic Chicken or Sriracha Chicken. I tried both; the difference between the two variants is negligible enough that I’ve combined my notes for a single review of the concept itself. If you want your Crunchadilla on the spicier side, go with the Sriracha variant; if not, you know what to do.

Pros: If you haven’t tried Taco Bell’s Cantina Chicken since they updated the recipe back in 2024, you’re missing out. I remember the days of Taco Bell’s chicken being the boring protein option, but that time is long gone. Unlike the Double Dipping Burritos that launched alongside these Crunchadillas, the Cantina Chicken recipe really shines in this offering.

The triple-cheese blend, sour cream, and either Creamy Chipotle or Sriracha sauces all mesh with that new slow-roasted chicken to deliver familiar Taco Bell flavors in a pleasantly new-enough format for a good value and overall winning addition to the Luxe Value Menu.

Cons: Taco Bell is a pretty utilitarian fast foodery–you’ll never get something bad, but the more you spend, the better you’ll get (on average–don’t come for me, vegetarians). At my local urban-environment Taco Bell, both Crunchadillas will run you $2.49. That’s a wholly fair price for the food you get, but in a non-review context, I wouldn’t order this again, considering other items I enjoy more cost just 1-2 quarters more.
