Taco Bell Is Adding an International Taco to the Menu—and You Get to Decide Which One

Ah, Taco Bell. Home of the ever-evolving Value Menu Items and Mexican Pizzas and all sorts of innovations in between. Sometimes it feels hard to keep up with all the excitement over at Taco Bell HQ. I mean, even after putting on an entire conference decidated to announcing upcoming menu items, Taco Bell’s still got more tricks up their sleeve! Enter stage left: Taco Bell’s first ever Global Taco Vote!!

What is a “Global Taco Vote?” 

According to my friends at Taco Bell, for the first time ever, Taco Bell is bringing two international Taco Bell Menu items into the spotlight to duke it out head-to-head from March 26th (today) until April 1st. Both are currently not found on U.S. menus, but whichever item gets the most votes will earn a spot on the menu later on this year!

What are the international Taco Bell items? 

In one corner we have the Kickin’ Chicken Taco from Thailand, which Taco Bell describes as a “craveable combination of crispy chicken strips, lettuce, a blend of mozzarella, pepperjack, and cheddar cheeses, freshly prepared daily pico de gallo, and the unique Spicy Kickin’ sauce made with a blend of cheeses and flavorful spices, wrapped in a warm flour tortilla.”

The Kickin’ Chicken Taco will be pitted against the Butter Chicken Taco from India, which Taco Bell describes thusly: “Inspired by one of India’s most popular dishes, this taco is filled with shredded slow-roasted chicken simmered in tomato cream-based sauce with bold spices and Indian-inspired flavors, and topped with onion and cilantro, lettuce, and cheddar cheese all wrapped in a fried chalupa shell.” Both have been fan favorites in their home markets, but only one will come out on top in the U.S.

How do I get in on the vote? 

You can get in on the action starting TODAY until April 1st by heading over to the Taco Bell Mobile app to cast your vote. You can vote once per day until the voting ends! The winning taco will be announced on April 2nd, via Taco Bell’s official Substack, The Taco Bell Brief.
