Taco Bell Is Bringing Back The Discontinued Choco Taco (Kind Of)

We were all hurt by the discontinuation of the beloved and classic Choco Taco. It was a handy, cold treat and hey, who didn’t love turning dessert into another excuse to eat tacos? Sadly, she’s gone and we have to live in an ice taco-less world. Though other brands have come out with their own versions over the years, nothing can really replace the O.G. But we may now have a real contender with Taco Bell’s latest menu drop.

Introducing The Churro Ice Cream Taco

That’s right. The fast food taco giant is coming in swinging with a new ice cream taco for all to enjoy. This taco isn’t just a Taco Bell creation, working off of last year’s successful Tacolate campaign, Taco Bell is once again partnering with Salt & Straw to bring this ice cream taco to a Taco Bell near you. 

So, just what is in this taco? Well, it features a crispy waffle cone shell filled with the brand-new Churro Ice Cream, covered with puffed rice and a dark chocolate-flavored coating for the perfect balance of creamy, crispy, and crunchy in every bite. We think that sounds pretty good. We’ll definitely be getting be in line to try one of these―or, let’s be real, more than just one of these.

The taco isn’t the only thing coming. Live Mas Cafe locations will also feature the Salt & Straw Choco-Waffle Chiller. A chiller with a vanilla ice cream base blended with churro crumbles and waffle cone pieces and topped with whipped cream and more waffle cone pieces. The whole thing is encased in a crackable chocolate shell. 

Where (And When) To Find Them

This taco is available at participating Taco Bell locations nationwide starting now and is only available for a limited time. Disappointing, I know. This is a good addition. But we know Taco Bell isn’t the best at keeping the favorites, am I right? 

And, because two new treats weren’t enough, Salt & Straw and Taco Bell are also hosting a giveaway. On September 8th at 2PM, Taco Bell Rewards Members can enter on the Tuesday Drop on the app for the chance to win 1 of 100 limited edition Salt & Straw x Taco Bell decorated coolers. The cooler will include 3 of the ice cream tacos as well.
