We’ve talked a lot of talk this year about Walmart’s Bettergoods line, and the apparent efforts by the grocery store chain to offer something a little more ambitious and exciting to its customers through it (just yesterday we were talking about its fall desserts) – but what about Target? What’s been going on there? Well, as it turns out, much the same thing. Target’s private label foods this year haven’t quite been as out-there as the Bettergoods items we’ve seen (well, by my estimation, anyway), but there’s still been some nice stuff coming out, with its recent Favorite Day ice creams fully leaning into fall.

Now, we’re getting a snack refresh, and it seems like this is where Target’s pushing the boat out somewhat, both with its new and returning items. Let’s check in.
New Snacks
Courtesy of @candyhunting, a few days back we received a peek at what Target has planned for its fall snacks this year in its Favorite Day and Good & Gather lines, and there are three new and three returning products. Both of them are suitably weird, if I do say so myself. First, the new ones – we’ve got:
- Purple Sweet Potato Pie Puffs: These look like little rice cakes, and Target says that they’re flavored with maple sugar – which, according to one review we found, is the dominant (and perhaps only?) note. Nonetheless, they’re pretty visually striking, in all their purple glory.
- Pumpkin Spice Tortilla Chips: Not sure how I feel about this one! I can’t quite figure out whether they’re meant to be sweet or savory, but either way, cinnamon, cloves, and tortillas aren’t really my thing.
- Creamy Scalloped Potato Popcorn: Expect sour cream and maybe slight cheesiness from these. An intriguing proposition, but so far, they’re rocking a 3.4 out of 5 rating on the Target website, so they may not quite be everyone’s taste.
Returning Snacks
For those of you not blown away by the prospect of the above three snacks, the three returning ones might hit the spot. And they are…
- Apple Pie Seasoned Popcorn: This flavor was a hit when it landed last year, with a sweet, salty, fruity vibe that worked well. Target knows a winner when it sees it.
- Stuffing Flavored Wavy Potato Chips: Again, a surefire favorite here: Customers loved the proper stuffing flavor of these, and Target took heed.
- Brown Butter & Sage Popcorn: Maybe the most divisive of the three returning snacks, Target’s Brown Butter & Sage Popcorn wasn’t a universal win, with some people saying that the sage flavor was too dominant. Regardless, it’s back, so you can give it a whirl yourself.
These new snacks are being rolled out now and should be available pretty widely. Snack to your heart’s content!
