We would imagine that most people aren’t going to Texas Roadhouse for the croutons – but hey, when they’re good, they’re good, and people love those things. The restaurant chain’s croutons are made in-house, where they’re cut fresh from white bread and baked, doused in a cheesy, garlicky, herby butter mixture until crunchy and golden. The power of a good crouton to elevate a salad has oft been noted (by…myself), and Texas Roadhouse clearly understands this too; no wonder they’re a fan fave.

And now, you can enjoy them in the comfort of your own home, because Texas Roadhouse is bringing its croutons to the supermarket aisle. Here’s what we know.

Texas Roadhouse Garlic & Herb Croutons

Last week, @markie_devo reported that Texas Roadhouse Garlic & Herb Croutons will soon be available in supermarkets. These bagged croutons are, according to the packaging, “inspired by [the restaurant’s] house-made croutons,” and are intended for soups, salads, and snacking – so, basically, whatever you’d use other croutons for. @markie_devo also noted that there may be more flavors to come in the future, although there’s no confirmation of that just yet – and nor is there word about exactly when they’re going to drop.

But they’re on their way, and thus, another entry into the bagged crouton canon will soon be with us. Having said this, that “inspired by” on the bag is prompting a few question marks. The joy of Texas Roadhouse’s croutons for its customers lies in the fact that they’re made fresh – and these, of course, will not be. So…will they be that unique? “How this gonna be different from other croutons?” asked a comment on @markie_devo’s post. Given that a lot of other store-bought croutons have this exact flavor profile, Texas Roadhouse is going to have to pull out the stops to make its own version stand apart. The proof will be in the crunch, we guess.

The Texas Roadhouse Cinematic Universe (TRCU)

These Garlic & Herb Croutons are just the latest Texas Roadhouse-branded products available in stores, as offshoots from the restaurant’s menu. Its honey cinnamon butter, steak sauce, rolls, and a trio of dips inspired by its appetizers are all sold in supermarket form, so this is just the next step, we guess. Several of those products have stuck the landing, too: Its steak sauce and rolls have particularly been highlighted for their closeness to the restaurant version. So maybe we’ll have the same situation with these croutons; maybe they’ll be just like the real thing.
