It’s hard to see others living your dreams. I love a wacky flavored food. Give me bubblegum pizza, rocket pop baked beans, and beer flavored energy drinks. Doritos apparently saw everyone else having their fun and wanted to get it in the action. They’ve released none other than hot chocolate Doritos. As always though, there is a catch.

Only Available In Europe
For some reason, the hot chocolate Doritos are only seeing the light of day in the Netherlands at the moment. While there’s a slight possibility that more European countries will get the delicious treat in their grocery stores, I think I speak for everyone when I say the rest of us are disappointed.
As if that wasn’t enough of a blow to the chest, we’re also starting to see Gingerbread Doritos start to pop back up for the second year in a row in the United Kingdom. This is a flavor that I feel a great fondness for because I looked all around Ireland for it last year. I guess it was so exclusive that it couldn’t even make it over the border! I don’t know what the rest of us did to you, Doritos, but you don’t have to punish us like this!
Is Hot Chocolate Having A Moment?
Something truly must be in the air right now. Last week we tried the Ballerina Farm’s Caffeinated Bone Broth Hot Cocoa and now this. Was there some article that named hot chocolate the drink of the year that I missed? I mean I like hot chocolate as much as the next guy, but I don’t know if I can sign off on all the things y’all are doing to it lately.
I am, however, open to changing my mind if Doritos would like to send me a bag of hot chocolate Doritos to try for myself. Or send me on a trip to the Netherlands to pick it up in person. Obviously the latter would put my journalistic integrity in question but let’s be honest―I write for Sporked, I think there’s some wiggle room in there.
Too Exclusive?
I understand that exclusivity can be a reasonable thing. I just think that only releasing your new product in one country might be a little too exclusive. What do they expect us to do, take a trip just to the Netherlands to try them? Pay someone $50 to send them to us in the U.S.? It just seems so arbitrary. What do I know? I’m just the guy who gets to judge their decisions from my couch.
