The KFC Oreos No One Asked For (But We Want Anyway)

This is what food news is about! I cannot tell you how much I absolutely love the little freak food scientists that work at Oreo. They have a chokehold on me. I have to stop to look at the Oreos anytime I’m at the grocery store. Or any store that might sell Oreos for that matter. I need to see what new crazy creation they’ve cooked up.

Honestly, I’m blown away at this latest flavor. I can’t believe I’m saying this but they’ve truly outdone themselves. Oreo has partnered with KFC to drop KFC spicy chicken Oreos and we absolutely need to get our hands on a box.

We’re Not Getting Them (Just Yet?)

Sadly, the KFC x Oreo collaboration is only available in China for the time being. We can only hope, pray, and dream that they’re brought over to the United States. At the very least, I hope the specialty snack stores around me will get them in stock sometime in the near future. Maybe, Oreo will see my cries for help and take pity on me by sending me a pack or two to try.

I have a lot of faith in Oreo. I want to trust them on any flavor that they put out. They’ve made watermelon and waffles and syrup flavors work in the past. This might be where my limits are tested. The previous concoctions have worked because they turn the Oreo cookies into a part of the experience. The pictures we have of the KFC spicy chicken Oreos are telling a different story. I’m still seeing the same chocolate cookie. Is chocolate one of the 11 herbs and spices?

Another Flavor Drop

Oreo is also using the KFC drop as a smokescreen for another safer flavor. A “retro popcorn” flavor is headed to stores at the same time, aka caramel popcorn. These also come with the classic dark cocoa cookie but I have a feeling that’ll pair much better with the caramel popcorn cream.

For now, we’re stuck setting a Google alert for KFC Oreos. I’ll also work on cozying up whoever’s in charge of stocking the specialty snack stores in my area. Maybe they’ll take pity on me where Oreo didn’t and use their connections to get me a sample as soon as possible. These are the things I do in my eternal search to try every Oreo ever created.
