Some Starbucks menu items disappear and nobody really notices. Others develop the kind of cult following usually reserved for cancelled TV shows. The S’mores Frappuccino falls firmly into the second category. And if you’ve spent the last few summers wondering when Starbucks was finally going to bring it back, I may have some good news for you.

According to reports from Starbucks employees, the drink is expected to return to participating U.S. locations on June 30. Starbucks hasn’t officially confirmed the news just yet, but after seven years away from menus, the S’mores Frappuccino could finally be making a comeback.
The drink first launched in 2015 and quickly became a summer favorite thanks to its combination of coffee, milk chocolate sauce, marshmallow whipped cream, and graham cracker crumble. Essentially, Starbucks took a campfire dessert and turned it into a Frappuccino―which, in hindsight, was always going to be popular.
Interestingly, despite sounding more like something you’d order in front of a fireplace in December, the S’mores Frappuccino has always been a summer drink. Then again, the best s’mores have always been more about campfires than fireplaces.
And There’s A New Addition
The reported return also includes a new S’mores Cream Cold Brew, giving fans another way to get their s’mores fix this summer. According to the reports, this new cold brew will feature marshmallow-flavored cold foam and a graham cracker topping, offering a less dessert-like alternative to the Frappuccino.
What’s perhaps most surprising about the S’mores Frappuccino is that people never really stopped talking about it. Reddit threads, TikTok videos, and copycat recipes have continued to pop up years after the drink left menus, which isn’t something you can say about most discontinued beverages. And every year, as soon as the weather starts warming up, social media fills with customers asking the same question: Is the S’mores Frappuccino coming back?
Why We Care So Much About One Drink
The S’mores Frappuccino taps into two things people love: nostalgia and sugar. Or maybe it’s because Starbucks has never quite managed to replace it with a summer drink people love as much. Either way, plenty of customers have spent the better part of a decade waiting for its return.
Of course, until Starbucks officially confirms the launch, it’s worth treating the reports with a little caution. But if they’re accurate, S’mores Frappuccino fans won’t have to wait much longer. After seven years, I’d say they’ve earned it.
