There’s a long list of things that I eat every week that are absolutely phenomenal. The thing is, they usually aren’t new. I’d like to think my weekly menus are pretty exceptional, but what I can’t say is that they’re always the most fresh and interesting meals. We all have habits and meals we rely on to get us through busy weeks and late nights, and generally the most reliable thing is something you’ve already tried or made before.

But alas, a few newbies will inevitably slip in. And as a food content writer myself, I’d say there’s maybe a couple more than a few slipping in. Of the things we’ve tried this week, these are the very best that our eats had to offer.

Trader Joe’s Snacky Clusters

If sweet, salty, and creamy is your thing, there’s probably no better option out there right now than the Snacky Clusters from Trader Joe’s. It’s a delicious milk chocolate rich with Bugle-like corn pieces and salty pretzel chunks. They’re incredible for habitual snacking since they’re complex enough to keep your palate interested and delighted. Plus, they’re the perfect size where if they’re too rich for you to shamelessly eat half the bag in one sitting (that’s where I’m at, folks), you could easily eat one or two and move on about your day with a bit more of a smile on your face. If you’re one of the lucky people who’s been able to travel to a Scandinavian country and try the snack “Smash,” then these feel like a close relative to them, too.

Figs

There are a couple of produce items that, even with a complete departure from true seasonal eating due to modern innovation, we must sit by and wait patiently for their return. The item I await most eagerly is figs. Bad figs taste like nothing, except for a bit vegetal. But a good fig is among the most satisfying bites around. They’re creamy and luscious, a little bit sticky if eaten raw and at peak ripeness, and best of all, they have the gentlest sweet aroma around. There’s no wonder why figs are immortalized in mythologies and literature―they are perfect. And, they’re back in season. Yay!

Cheddar Weather Goodles Twirly Mac

If you’re a devout Sporked reader (first of all, hello and thank you!) you’ll know that earlier this week we were sent a shipment of Goodles’ new Twirly Mac to taste test and review. And they were pretty much all great in their own right, but one stood out to us as an exemplary version of an elevated mac. That is, of course, the Cheddar Weather Twirly Mac. It’s so good I even went out of my way for a second time this week to have it as a late night snack last night when my stomach was grumbling louder than the counter of sheep in my mind. It’s creamy and cheesy as any mac should be, but it doesn’t feel stodgy like its bogging you down. And who doesn’t love a funky noodle?
