For anyone unaware of the international butter culture, there’s a bit of a hierarchy of who’s making it best. Generally though, there’s a pretty big consensus that France and Ireland are doing it unlike any others. But we’re not here today to break down who’s actually on top since we have far more exciting news to breakdown.

You see, Kerrygold butter is made with dairy all from the Emerald Isle of Ireland itself. The lush vegetation in Ireland feeds and nourishs its cattle in such a way that their dairy is superb and the butter has a rich, golden yellow quality.

Kerrygold has long been a grocery store superstar, but now it seems they’ve realized that their high quality dairy could be used for so much more. They’ve already been a shining example of how delicious Irish butter can be for those of us in the States, and now they’re expanding beyond their collection of butters and hard cheeses and venturing into the world of cream cheese spreads.

But all of the excitement doesn’t stop there. After all, Kerrygold doesn’t do anything halfway. They’re going all out with this new launch, and it includes four flavors of cream cheese all with that same high-quality finish. To say we’re excited would be an understatement.

Irish Dairy Is Going To Shine

There are a few cheeses that I think really depend on the quality of the dairy to really make the product stand out. Of course it matters for all cheeses, but for soft cheeses like ricotta, mascarpone, and cream cheese the dairy quality is exceptionally essential to their success. Since Kerrygold already has dairy quality in the bag, I think this venture into the world of cream cheese is an exceptional decision. Cream cheese is a staple for many people’s families, and theres frankly been an industry domination by the Kraft Hienz’s Philadelphia brand cream cheese for too long now.

Philadelphia has definitely earned their place at the top of the cream cheese game though, because there’s no one really doing it out there to the same quality of execution, except for maybe Tillamook. That’s why this is actually a super exciting launch, because Kerrygold actually has a chance to prove that their quality and execution can outshine even the greats.

A Flavor Rundown

It’s simply an added bonus that Kerrygold has gone ahead and made this lunch anything but basic. Their decision to not just release plain cream cheese, but to release three other flavors as well is going to be welcomed with warmth. Much like their butter selection, this release includes a cream cheese flavor that leans into alliums. But instead of the garlic and herb flavor that they have with the butter, this is onion and chive flavored cream cheese.

The other two flavors included in this lunch are sweet flavors, which we are equally excited for since neither of them feel gimmicky. The simple Honey Cream Cheese Spread flavor sounds perfect for mornings when we don’t want anything too fussy but still want something with intrigue to get us off on the right foot. Finally, for a fruity finish they’ve included a simple Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread. We’re perhaps the most excited for this one since it seems like something completely new to their product portfolio. We’ve never seen anything that leans into fruit flavors from Kerrygold until this point, and we’re dying to know of its success.

Because Kerrygold is produced in the EU, it is made very naturally to adhere to very strict food standards. The new products are completely free of any artificial ingredients, and you don’t have to wait long to get your hands on them. All four flavors are already rolling out at Walmart locations in the U.S. and are available in 7oz containers.
